If you are a user or provider of training, High Impact Training is a must read. In my experience as an organizational psychologist, I see few tools more misused than training. Lapidus has identified the root causes of most of those failures and has prescribed a systematic solution to many ways that the training solutiuon can go wrong. The book is clearly written, laced with stories that elucidate the importance of the approach Lapidus takes. He integrates the whole in a model that makes it easy to program a training approach and get results. There is no wasted fluff in this book. Every page has value. Its just like all other wisdom, however, we'll have to apply it to get the results.

This book has a lot of good info. However, It has very few illustrations or photographs and the ones it does have are low quality. I don't think Kevin is giving any secrets away in this book. There is a lot of contradictory information. The end message is to try everything and do whatever works.

A book for even non-experienced fisher persons; it provides both interesting well-weathered opinions, as well as detailed and basic information /insight, that despite my decades of seasoned on-the-job-fishing, was able to gleem things new: After browsing pages for only 15-20 minutes, the next day's fishing trip employed new tactics that instantly led to more bass! WoW. Guess goes to show it's true, we can always learn more.

Phrasebook so-so.......2003-07-09

I didn't find it of much use at all. I bought this for our trip to Norway and hardly used it. It didn't explain to you HOW to say the words. The Norwegian language is hard and not useful if you don't say the words right.

Hey, Hei or Hej?.......2002-05-14

I bought this LP book in anticipation of my trip to Sweden. My friend was impressed at the many anicdotes and brief background given about the Swedish language. I would agree with the other reviewer, they should include a section on grammer in the next edition, but, I think having Finnish in this book is ok, even though it is not a part of Scandanavia,it is a part of the Nordic Council of countries. The truth is, many folks in Finland speak Swedish as well as Finnish. I highly recommend this book for any trip you may be taking to the Nordic countries, granted you may not speak fluently with this book, but a few phrases will help you make some new friends.

Useful and enjoyable.......2002-03-15

The sections on pronunciation are well done, and the vocabulary and phrases seem practical and realistic. However, little attention is paid to grammar. Six languages are covered, including Finnish which is of course not Scandinavian. It may be a better idea to break this book up into two or more volumes in future editions.

It certainly delivered..........2006-08-18

I'm eighteen years old and while this book is clearly below my reading level, I have found myself going back to it again and again. The story is so touching and the characters are brought to life by Urban's capable hand.
I felt that I could really delve in Livy and Rising Hawk's life, as if I knew them personally. And Gideon and Shadow and all the rest were equally wonderful.
I loved how Livy has the guts to put the blame on herself in the end, and take the shame that her entire community places on her, for Rising Hawk's sake. I loved how she refuses to let Rising Hawk take her virtue, even as she fought back her feelings for him. I loved how even after she had rejected him, Rising Hawk gathers the courage to face another rejection and still goes after her.
Waiting for Deliverance is most definately one of my favorite books. I highly recommend it.

It's okay but just barrow it from the library........2006-03-29

I am 17 years old. 3 stars. This book is good but it has some really sick parts. The girl was really mean to the guy in the beginning but he still loved her and thats why I liked the book. Some of the gross parts were when the guys out in the woods caught the older guy and plucked out his eyeball. That was really gross. They didn't need to describe how they plucked out his eyeballs. It was kind of scary too because at one point the people thought that the girl was a witch. I liked this book because it had the boy and girl liking eachother and their problems.

A great historical novel with a bit of romance.......2005-08-17

This book portrays a vivid picture of life in the 17oo's. At the beginning of the book, the independant Livy and her cousin are being sold at a pauper's auction. They become indentured servants to native american. At first Livy is afraid of them and resents them, but she eventually learns that they are people just like her. As Livy overcomes other fears, she begins to fall in love with her new master's brother, Rising Hawk. By the end of the book Livy has undergone many changes, but she's still herself. And she finally conquers her last fear.

A historical novel for teens that delivers........2000-06-20

Orphaned at birth, Deliverance "Livy" Pelton has lived all of her fourteen years with her aunt, uncle, and cousins. When her uncle decides to move the family west in 1793, Livy just wants to stay in New England. Her fears are justified: her aunt, uncle, and all of her cousins except for one drown in a river accident. She and her cousin, Ephraim, who is a few years younger than her, are bound out as indentured servants to a homesteader raised by Indians. Livy is supposed to help out his wife and care for the children. But she ends up being sent to educate a village of Indians, the ones that raised her master, how to spin cloth. As the time passes, she begins to wonder if she is falling in love with nineteen-year-old Rising Hawk, her master's brother by adoption. Livy is determined never to marry - her mother died birthing her. But she may have to listen to her heart instead of her head for once. And when her survival depends on it, she may have to trust her life to Rising Hawk. This was a wonderfully written historical novel that I reccomend to teenagers who enjoy stories set in the past.
