Most of us are less skilled at handling conflict than we should be. Although studies show that a negotiating behavior is usually the best response to a conflict situation, negotiation is a difficult endeavor-one that requires considerable skill and thought. The normal negotiating behavior, as typically practiced in business and social contexts, does not generally produce high levels of satisfaction for either participant. The Dealing with Conflict Instrument (DWCI) will help change this by encouraging conflicting parties to shift to a more collaborative style in order to find and pursue shared interests, creating a win/win outcome.

The Dealing with Conflict Instrument presents five conflict-handling styles. The five styles; accommodate, avoid, compromise, compete, and collaborate, encompass all the effective ways of dealing with conflict. By completing the Dealing with Conflict Instrument-Self, participants will learn about their own natural style tendencies, while the information gathered from the DWCI 360-Degree Feedback set will give them insight into how they are perceived by others when resolving conflicts. The combined results of these assessments indicate which styles of conflict resolution need the most improvement.

Participants will explore the characteristics of each conflict-handling style which will help them develop greater style flexibility. In order to decide which style is best in a given situation, they will learn to dissect situations, using Conflict Situation Analysis. Packet of 5

DWCI is a significant improvement over conventional conflict assessments. It shortens usage time, produces clearer and more user-friendly results, and includes helpful support material. DWCI is compatible with most existing training programs and is the easiest way to update assessment materials.

Not enough help.......2007-05-07

This book came up a little light. I really didn't learn anything new or enlightening.
If you have just started to follow racing, it could be a help. But not if you have been following and handicapping for years.

Nothing grounbreaking, but useful to the novice.......2006-01-07

I went back through this book after initially panning it for not including anything really new or enduring. The best material is about the mares and their production, something that will change yearly. For those who have read comprehensive books on handicapping, they probably have some ideas about where to start on grass races. If that is the case, this book would be better in a condensed version as a chapter in one of those volumes. However, several books, including those by Beyer, are written by authors that are strongly slanted to dirt racing or have a real aversion to the grass. Thus, this provides an interesting supplement to those volumes. Heller's ideas aren't revolutionary, but you can at least get on par with the intermediate level grass handicappers. My biggest problem with this, as it is with a couple of the DRF series on elements of handicapping, is that many of the ideas they push is not available with the information in the Daily Racing Form. Brisnet and Trackmaster have much better Past Performance data that includes trainer stats, sire and broodmare sire stats, jockey info specific to grass, and importantly to grass racing, variant adjusted pace figures.

This book is in the utmost echelon of horse riding books. The author makes concise, clear comments; she obviously knows what she is talking about! I'd say that if you're looking for a good authority on riding, or horses, there is none better. Having met the author, I can say she is a very intelligent, well-read woman who knows her stuff!

A must for anyone wanting to learn to ride a horse........1998-12-02

I was not an equestrian at all and when I got my first horse I was unable to take riding lessons from a professional, a friend purchased this book for me, she had taken professional riding lessons for years and thought this book to be the best! She was right, I learned how to ride with ease and confidence and was able to handle my Paso Fino. The book is full of pictures showing what the author wants you to understand with clear and concise intructions of every phase of riding. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn how to ride.

Taking up archery after a too-long hiatus, I needed a source of information for all of the new technology that has come on the market in recent years. The knowledge that I gained from this book allowed me to select the compound bow that was right for me, along with the accessories that made shooting the bow a pleasure.

Elementary Larry Wise.......2004-06-22

An excellent introductory book but if you have been shooting for some time, you might find it too elementary. Seventy-eight pages of this book is a printed copy of the NAA or NFAA constitution and by-laws which are useless if you do not shoot in USA and also can be lifted off the internet. That said, Larry Wise is Larry Wise and he gives pieces of priceless advice for beginners

The book Bow & Arrow is an excellent book for all levels of archers. It has a large variety of step-by-step photographs emphasizing the key skills of the sport. It also covers the equipment, techniques, and rules for all kinds of types of archery competition rounds. Practice drills are shown step-by-step to help one learn quickly. It has many sections on choosing a bow to fit you, selecting and assembling arrows, adjusting arrow rests, installing accessory equipment, safety rules, form basics, bow tuning, and target, field, and unmarked-distance archery. Many pictures and diagrams help explain the material and its procedures. All the material is explained and is very simple to understand for even the archery illiterate.

Bow and Arrow is one of the best Archery tech manuals I have read. Begineers wanting to know more about the technical side of the recurve or compound should pick up this book. Lots of good info on arrow setup and tuning too. Nice!!!

Excellent book with fine maps and accurate descriptions. It was an outstanding resource for planning out some long trail runs, and was nicely complemented by the efficient Swiss trail signs. Lonely Planet does a very good job with travel guides, but excels the most when doing the walking/trekking guides.

This was by far the most helpful resource that I took to Switzerland--extremely detailed, logically organized, and quite accurate. Walking in Switzerland was extremely helpful in its well-written trail and regional descriptions as well as precise information on surrounding logistics. A must for anybody who intends to hike (seriously or casually) in the region. At the risk of gushing overmuch, this is quite possibly the most useful travel guide I've ever bought.
