The demand for high quality aquacultured products and an increasing concern for resource conservation has led individuals and large corporations to invest time and money in commercial scale recirculating production systems. However, there are relatively few reports of profitable recirculating production systems in operation. There is little doubt that most fish reared in ponds, floating net pens, or raceways can be produced in commercial scale recirculating systems.

The objective of this book is to provide basic information and analytical skills for the reader so that they may make the proper design or investment decisions concerning water reuse and recycle systems. The chapters of this book are sequenced to provide continuity to a basic approach that would be used in designing a water reuse or recycle system. The chapter authors contributing to this book have written extensively in the literature already on the particular subject being addressed in their chapter.

Considerable background information on the basic processes being presented is also given in each chapter to supplement the basic design information being provided. These chapters should provide the reader with essentially all the information required in order to design and manage a water reuse system.

The book is written for engineers and biologists working in the area of intensive fish culture. The text should also prove useful as a design manual for practising aquaculturists and as a resource of current "state-of-the-art" methodologies associated with water reuse systems.

"As good as Howard was, sometimes there was nothing he could do about our situation in the burning inferno of Utah. In that agonizing desert, a man's mouth became so dry, he couldn't spit. I felt the heat cook my hooves at ground level where it felt like walking along at the end of a woman''s hair dryer. Above us, vultures soared in the skies searching for road kill. Yet, Howard pulled down the brim of his hat and pushed forward. I followed this cowboy because he was a Long Rider and I was his horse."

This is a great book! The story is told by the horse and she does a terrific job! As I read the book, I couldn't wait to see what happened next, expecially after they crossed the Rockies and entered the desert. Extradordinary trip and would make a great movie.

I have been telemark skiing for probably 15 years. If you can get the tips in this book into your head you will telemark ski well. Each of the tips are laid out well with great illustrations and humor worthy of Mad magazine. Whether you are an advanced skier seeking improvement or a beginner I doubt there will ever be a better book to help you out to master telemark skiing.

This book offers very practical advice in making the transition to free heel skiing. It is very well written.

Incomparable -- an easy resource book.......2005-04-05

This is the classic comic book version of a telemark skiing text book: brief, clear narrative accompanying excellent cartoon drawings. The book shows both old style (knee down) and new style (no deep dips, feet never widely separated front to back) telemark techniques without really distinguishing between the two but, if you follow the exercises and advice, your skiing will improve. An enjoyable read, an attractive style and price.

Shallow facts.......2004-01-13

You really need Parker's book to understand the tips of this juvenile book. But once you've read Parker's book you immediately realise that this book is just collection of tips from Parker drafted in comics. Without explanations of course. I don't do anything unless I believe the tip is sound and this book does not convince me. Yeah, it's funny for a while but it does not supply the enthusiast the facts really needed to improve in free heels stuff.

Helpful pocket book to refer to while skiing........2003-08-19

I've skied with this book for one season now and found that the tips are relevant and enjoyable. Both the beginner and expert can learn from this book.
Personally, I've eliminated most of my bad skiing habits and not created any new ones, which is really praise. I've found handy tips on how to explain what I do to others while in class. This book has become an "on hill" teaching tool and stays in my day pack just for that purpose.
This compendium of "illustrations" keeps me fresh while teaching, although the book is by no means intended for an instructor. The graphics are relevant, funny, and, relate the sense of joy that both authours must feel about telemarking.
The book's a giggle to re-read, for me, it can stimulate the sense of being on the snow even during an August heat wave.

Now that was a fun read! A great contemporary story that leaves you wanting more. This book brings the imagination alive. Readers can put themselves in Sam's place and live a star-studed reality while dealing with real issues at the same time. I have given this book as a gift to two preteens who loved it! They want to know when the sequal is coming out.

They all comment that the story and characters are so real to them. The book is intriquing for adults because it shows the world around young teens so clearly - through their senses and their perceptions!

I am anxious to read the next story by Dr. Weiner. In the mean time, this story should be made into a movie are TV show ASAP!

As a teacher, I would like to thank Dr. Weiner for writing such timely book for students. I have seen students get caught up in Sam's life from page one. What a wonderful treat to see students absorbed by reading. They all comment that the story and characters are so real to them. The book is also intriquing for adults because it shows us the world around young teens so clearly - through their senses and their perception of the world they live in. Really fun read!.......2004-07-15

Even adults will enjoy this fast but very contemporary children's book. This book would translate easily and well to television. I hope that Dr. Weiner writes sequels because NOT MY REALITY leaves us wanting more. With the current overfocus on reality shows, this book provides the perspective on how not everyone enjoys them, especially being an involuntary character within one. It's fun; it's fast moving; and it's current!
