The rules and regulations governing accounting of the software industry are very different from other industries. The software industry has unique accounting concerns, such as capitalization of development costs and software revenue recognition. Detailed implementation guidance is provided for all rules and regulations. This special report covers the recently released AICPA Statement of Position 97-2, Software Revenue Recognition. This statement was developed to address the shortcomings of SOP 91-1 and establishes an overall framework from which constituents must develop more specific revenue recognition practices. SOP 97-2 addresses the accounting for revenue earned from licensing, selling, and otherwise marketing of software.

a fine and balanced review and analysis of Berry's essays.......2003-06-29

This book is an excellent review of the intellectual traditions that Wendell Berry draws upon in the development of his complex, controversial and elegant social, moral, and political theories. It was particularly useful to me, as a recent and avid reader (devourer) of Berry's essays and as a college student with little knowledge of agrarianism, populism or even the roots of green theory.

Prof. Smith points out the weaknesses in Berry's thought as well, which I think he would agree is the proper way to come to a more robust and implementable set of ideas. However, most of the book is dedicated to extolling and analyzing the beauty, truth, and love in the work of Wendell Berry.

I would greatly recommend this book as an intermediary text - read "What are PEOPLE For" or "The Unsettling of America" first, then read this, then go read the rest of Berry's books. It's well worth your time.

A NASA Photographic Book of the Venus's Surface.......2007-02-10

There have been many probes sent from Earth to explore the planet Venus and the Magellan spacecraft has been the most recent NASA probe. During its four years in orbit around Earth's sister planet, the spacecraft radar-mapped approximately 98 percent of the surface and this book presents map of the best photographs obtained by Magellan. After a brief opening section describing previous and current missions to the planet Venus, the book presents many of the major landforms discovered by this spacecraft. Specifically, there are chapters on volcanoes, impact craters, tectonics, basic landforms, flows and channels and surface processes. Most of the book is devoted to presenting the photographs, so there is little text describing each photograph, which make this book ideal for the non-scientist of non-geologist (like me).

Because this book has been out print for nearly a dozen years, it is not readily available from many used book dealers for over $50.

This book was originally published by NASA as NASA Special Publication NASA SP-520. While there are many other books about Venus and its geology, I considered this book to be one of best if you are just looking for photographs of the Venusian surface.

The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: The Coastal Benthic Boundary Layer (CBBL) Research Program is a 5- year Office of Naval Research study that addresses the physical characterization and modeling of benthic boundary layer processes and the impact of these processes on seafloor structure properties, and behavior. In this report, results from the third year of the CBBL are summarized. Included are preliminary results from 1995 experiments conducted in carbonate sediments of the Florida Keys (The Key West Campaign). Also included are analyses of data collected during earlier experiments conducted on the soft methane-rich sediments of Eckemforde Bay (Baltic Sea) and on the sandy relict sediments of the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. Year-end reports for the 19 projects supported by the CBBL are included along with a list of publications supported by this program.

Broken Spline.......2007-06-07

Received this book earlier then expected, but it had a broken spline. I am confused since I purchased a NEW book, not a used book. Splines do not break unless someone opens the book and presses down on the binding. This book clearly was not new!

Peaked inside of the book and appears well illustrated. Can't wait for the replacement. If they screw the replacement up, I'll pay extra and pick the book up at a local book store. They have already eaten up enough of my time returning the book to the post office to outweigh any discount price. Now I have to wait for transit both ways and the time for someone to review the merchandise. ARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

On the plus side, they did pay for shipment of the return (AS THEY SHOULD!!!!!!)

Super book. Worth every penny!.......2007-04-14

I use this along with "The Fly Tier's Bible". The other books that I have I just don't seem to use very much by comparison. I particularly like the additional "variations" that they give for most patterns in this book. I find that often I like the "variation" better than the original pattern.

The only suggestion I would have for this book would be to have it available in a spiral version. Other fly pattern books often have this and it adds to the longevity of the binding.

A very nice book.......2007-03-25

A very usefull book. Up to now maybe the best I own.
Starts from searching patterns giving detailed instructions for many classic and usefull dry, nymph and wet flies.
The second part of the books analize the various types of trout foods forms, from mayflies to stoneflies , caddis, midges, damselflies, back swimmers, scuds, leeches, terrestrials and for each gives detailed instructions for natural stages.
A "Must have" for all beginners where also experienced tyers can find good advices.

Stands the test of time.......2006-11-03

I have been an owner of this book for over 5 years and refer to it frequently. It is readable, well-illustrated and consistently useful to any fly fisher. I regard this book as an old friend and recommend it highly.

Best Fly Book You Can Buy.......2003-09-11

Bottom line is.. if you tie flies... you NEED this book. Great pictures, great descriptions, all around an awesome book. VERY RECOMMENDED. I've been tying for over 10 years, and THIS is still the book I goto. BUY IT. HEY also makes a great gift!

I admit, I read this book...Not bad.......2006-11-18

This was not bad for a SWH book. I was never personally a fan and read a few of the books then lost interest. It did have some deeper issues besides fashion and romance and the barbie-like Wakefeild twins Jessica and Elizabeth are thankfully only in the backgound in this book. Their brother Steven really misses his dead girlfriend Tricia and finds a girl who looks a lot like her and decides to date her, basically dumping his current girlfriend Cara. He keeps thinking the girl is his lost love Tricia and his reality is shattered when..gasp..he discovers this girl is a different person with her own life and identity and is, in reality very unlike Tricia other then the fact they look alike. This book is actually mildly spooky and haunting and delves into heavier topics than the other SVH books I have read. Of course, when I was in high school this series was already getting a bit dated. The characters never seemed real to me and it really sounded like they were written by an adult who wished they were back in high school, rather than from the view of a teenager. Therea are a lot of 80's and 90's references and I don't think these books are the 'timeless' sort. I also feel that the older books might seem a little shallow and unsophisticated to girls of today. Might be interesting for girls in 2006 to read about how high school was when their mothers were teens...before cell phones and iPods (Yikes! Scary thought!)

Tricia Martin Look-alike........2005-05-27

Steven sees a girl who looks, acts,and behaves like Tricia Martin.His true love he lost due to lukemia. She loved Chef salads,and she loved Aquariums. Steven starts hang gliding when he and Cara/Andrea have a fight. Andrea works at the Unique Boutique at the mall. He is hospitalized when his hanglider crashes. He goes back to Cara.

So-So.......2002-05-27

Like I said in an earlier Sweet Valley High review, Steven Wakefield is still obsessed with his dead girlfriend, and this is mentioned in a few SVH books.This time he leaves poor Cara Walker to chase after some girl who resembles Tricia. If I was Cara I would have just let him go, but in Sweet Valley happy endings are inevitable.

Interesting topic but overly depressing..........2000-05-27

Steven Wakefield, the twins older brother sees a girl that is the spitting image of his dead girlfriend Tricia Martin. He begins dating her, in the hope that he can rekindle the same feelings that he felt with Tricia. Unfortunately, Steven tries to make his new girlfriend look like Tricia by making her wear her hair the same way as Tricia did and act the same way. Will Steven be able to realise that Tricia's gone forever?

This was a very weird book........1996-07-02

Come on Steven Wakefield is the most unbeliveable character. He must be the most naive guy on the planet. I am totally disgusted by him. In the book he is so obessed with his dead girl friend he starts dating a girl who looks like her. I think this is a morbid topic not worthy to be written about. Sweet Valley High needs better writers if they want to sell any books at all
