This book contains over 300 pages of info regarding a very large selection of field and roadside plants.You don't have to be a botanist,so to speak, but some plant knowledge will make it more enjoyable to read and use as a reference book.

Wild Flower Book.......2007-05-25
Very good pictures and text description. After reviewing its good quality I would have preferred more about growing them as well. This is a buy product for anyone that wants to know what they are looking at in the field. Not a good carry around field, in the back pocket book, but still a very good reference book.

Everyone should have this book in their personal library. This is the best book I have ever seen on wild plant identification. I use it regularly to identify and know the difference between native wild plants and weeds making sure not to destroy the beneficial plants.
I have learned a lot about plant identification from this book and wish it was more available. Everyone I know would have a copy.

I do volunteer prairie restoration and this book is currently used by many people in the field. The people who use it a great deal say it is the best for plant ID. I have a list of 13 people who are looking for a copy of this book and it is highly recommended. Anyone know how to get 13 copies of this book or get the publisher to put it back in print?

most of the weed i.d. books i've seen are line drawings but this one (i assume by courtenay and zimmerman tho it doesn't say) is very good-nice clear pictures with easy quick info and many sub species are listed as well-sure wish i could buy this book to stock for my customers who are now growing wildflowers and have no clue which are flowers and which might as well be plucked from the area-

Pods: Alien beauty here on Earth!.......2001-06-05
While many focus their dried efforts on garden flowers or attempt to hold back the ravages of time on "hot house beauties", author Jane Embertson and photographer Jay Conrader focus on the almost otherworldly beauty found in the dried pods of wildflowers and weeds. This book has a lot to offer, whether to gardeners, naturalists or dried arrangement artists. Photos of 143 plants from NC to NE US ("where frost and freeze are common") are presented in their green plant and dried seed pod versions. Info is provided on blooming season, leaves, flowers, and where to find each kind of plant. So, it's great for weed identification. The icing on the cake for each plant is a photo showing an example of how to use it in a dried arangement! So there are a wealth of great ideas to stimulate creativity. Who would have thought "poke berry skeletons" might be useful? With the info Jane provides you can craft with colors ranging from purple-pink to pale pea-green to a rich raspberry just from pokeweed pods. Actually, a whole arrangement could be made from "noxious" weeds. (There's a "value-added" idea for a small farmer with an excess of weeds in the pasture!)
This book is "to die for". IF you can track down a used copy of this book, it's worth every penny. Enjoy.

This is an interesting book about weeds. I personally would like more pictures but that was not the authors purpose in writing the book.

Excellent Photo's.......1999-01-30
This is an excellent regional photography book. It covers the general fauna, flora and topography of the Big Horn mountain region of Wyoming in a very artistic fashion. It is not intended as a comprehensive review but as an ex-Wyoming native it sure reminded me of the glorious beauty of the last frontier.

Anyone with a little practice can take nice, well composed photographs. What makes a photograph art, like all art, is its ability to speak to something deeper inside, to draw you into it, to evoke an emotion. Esther McWilliams is an artist and her photographs are pure art; a feast for the soul as well as for the eye. Her ability to fine beauty in the little things that most of the rest of us overlook is also a delight.

We have quite a large library of books and this one is of a quality that National Geographic might have their name on. Not only is it well put together, the photo's capture the beauty of the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, and the animals, birds, and flowers, at varioius seasons of a year, it does so in such a way in makes one want to visit and see it first hand. And it is an interesting book that one can set out to be viewed without any concern if a child looks through it.

This book could be called Soccer 101... It's a great place to start if you have 4 to 6 year old children. It shows you how to teach the basics and how to keep them interested in the game..
Good for a first time coach, or those of us that have not coached the first time time soccer player.

This is a very good, basic book, for the parent wishing to START coaching youth soccer, at the earliest level. The book assumes no prior knowledge of the sport. Any additional coaching skills will need to be acquired by experience, coaching with other individuals, watching the game, and by obtaining other, more advanced books, including more advanced drills and focusing on individual moves. This is a good book, for that parent going out to the field on that first saturday, as well, to try to understand and enjoy the GAME more fully!
This is a very good introduction coaching to kids soccer........1998-12-19
This is a great book to read when you first start coaching a team of 5, 6 or 7 year olds. It has right level of drills and tactics for that age.
I've loaned it out several times to friends who are just getting started as coaches. It has the rules of soccer and guidelines for putting together a practice. It also has good, basic drills that are easy to set up and teach the fundamental tactics of soccer. I especially liked the way it shows how to teach heading and shooting.
I recommend it to a first time coach.
Very basic and abbreviated, but a good start........1998-09-05
If you want to develop a system for making 10 and 11 year old girls understand simple offensive and defensive concepts, this book is not for you. Dealing with low attention spans is frustrating, and kids this age know it all, are mouthy, but have difficulty learning a new concept. With a practice of an hour a day for two days a week, you can't show much, and you can't be complex. This book needed MUCH more defensive emphasis.

If you write, you must have a Thesaurus!.......2005-12-20
"A Thesaurus is not a dinosaur." This is not just a play on words. I've heard it said that a printed thesaurus is a "dinosaur;" you can get everything you need from the worldwide web.
Then why do I have this copy next to my computer?
Look, the www is convenient and accessible... except when it isn't. The right word is there... except when it isn't. And this paperback edition of the New American Roget's College Thesaurus is so inexpensive, it IS always there, just like my trustworthy copy of Webster's Dictionary.
If you know you are going to be marooned on an island for a few years, bring along a copy of this book. If you end up having nothing to write on, you can at least use it as a fire starter!

It's tough to recommend buying a thesaurus these days when there are so many resources available on the web and built-in to word processing applications that will do the job. Nevertheless, I've kept a copy of this thesaurus close at hand for decades now and I am usually much more satisfied with the results I get from using it than from electronic sources. After my copy practically disintegrated from the ravages of time, I finally sprang for this latest edition. While I can't say it looks much different from the ancient one I had, it has been updated extensively with new phrases, and more words have been added. I like the dictionary-style organization, but that will be a matter of personal preference for you. I've also found this book to be extremely helpful in studying for standardized tests. For those who take writing seriously enough to want to use the word that best conveys their thoughts, this thesaurus will be an excellent and very affordable resource.

this book is mostly directed at teenages who have a fetish for surfing and all things girlie. it portrays a feeing that who ever is readding the book is there and can understand the charaters feelings. the five girls in this novel have problimes not only with boys but with family as well. this way the reader can relate to the story.

i really liked this book. i read it under 3 days and becaue im not a huge fan of reading, i found this book easy to read. not only does it share realationships between boys, but familys as well, which most girls can relate to.
if your a fan of surfing and love a hawaiian getaway then this book is great. its about a girl who goes to hawaii with her mates to have a photo shoot for a surf magasine, plus a bit of a surf. so if you wanna relax with a book, this 1 is great for you.
