Book Description

This book is the first monograph dealing with dusty and self- gravitational plasmas. It is focused on collective effects in the dusty plasma, with allowance for gravitational interaction between dust grains which was not given much attention in the literature until now. Other features include charging of dust particles under various physical conditions and the motion of dust particles under the joint action of electromagnetic and gravitation fields (gravitoelectrodynamics). Waves in isotropic and magnetized dusty plasmas are considered in both linear and nonlinear theory. Wave scattering and various plasma instabilities are discussed. The theoretical developments are tied to astrophysical observations, in particular the role played by dusty plasma in the structure formation of planetary rings is analyzed. Several theories are reviewed and a new hypothesis for the origin of `spokes' in Saturn's rings is presented.
Audience: The book is addressed to graduate and research physicists working in plasma physics and astrophysics.

I agree with other reviewers about the lack of space to write notes in this edition. The previous edition was a joy to use.

Full color is nice. Organized and has places for miles, time, etc.

Only con is I wish it had more space for writing comments daily, instead of the big weekly comment box. That's just my personal preference, there's nothing wrong with this log.

Nothing special.......2007-04-15

I received this journal for Christmas and can honestly say it's nothing special. Take a look at the "Search Inside" function for this book and look at the Excerpt. Basically, it just provides a space for recording information for route, distance, time and a little bit for comments. The tips are nice, but there's really nothing that makes this journal any better than anything else out there.

2006 - Revised and Updated.......2006-11-26

The 2006 edition has been released. The earlier reviews were written about the earlier edition (2001 or 2002?) and the editors seem to have taken the feedback to heart and have come up with a much improved version this year. For this edition, instead of having the week start at Sun, they have decided to put the weekend together, starting the week at Mon and then ending with Sat and Sun. There is plenty of space to write. The pictures and captions are colorful, attractive and useful. There is half a page of notes for you to fill up with thoughts of your runs, nutrition, whatever you want at the end of each week.

I just started running 3 months ago and I found this journal really helpful. Just the thought of filling up the pages with my runs motivate me to do better each work. It feels great to see that your efforts are paying off when you go through the filled pages and see how your mileage has been going up. Also, I use the empty half page to put down my calories intake, my goals for the week (whether for running or for personal life) and my thoughts. It is like having a friend! I recommend this for beginning runners!

This is a journal, nothing more,.......2004-03-03

As the title of the book suggests, this is simply a journal for you to record your daily runs, some info about your races and times, and your shoe history. Each page lists space to record info for 3 days of running, and has a quote about running or a tip off to the side. While the tips are helpful for new runners, and the book might be a nice motivational fctor, there is really nothing here that you can't find off the Internet by typing in "running tips" in a search engine.

If you don't have Internet access, it would be a decent book, but Runners World's own web site (and many other sites) has a much more comprehensive online training journal that can not only log your runs, shoes, and routes, but provide detailed reports and graphs as well.

The price of the book is low enough so that it's not really a bad deal, just a little behind the times. After all, the majority of the book IS blank paper.

The shorter OED was a gift for my husband, and he thinks it is extremely...I'll have to ask him to come up with a word meaning really, really good.

excellent , but the cd-rom is a problem.......2007-07-28

It certainly is one of the best dictionaries available. But its cd-rom cannot be installed in a desktop or laptop. THis will severely undermine its attractiveness. Consequently, while I bought this dictionary, I still need to buy a cd-rom from Random House Unbridged and Collins Cobuild Adavanced Learner's since it is more convenient to look up the electronic version while writing on the computer.

Check the Pages.......2006-12-04

Five stars for the book itself and the new edition is an improvement over the previous edition in text, layout and readabilty. I was delighted to get it but I advise all purchasers to check their copies. Difficult to look at every page, I agree, but my copy received in November 2006 is missing approx 50 pages between "argonaut" p114 and "axon" p163. I may be the unlucky one but you should at least check this area.

The Ultimate Dictionary.......2006-06-29

I have had other dictionaries, however for getting to the grass roots meaning of a particular word, this is the dictionary to have on the bookshelf. It settles all disputes over the correct meaning of words. The CD Rom is excellent as I have it loaded in both my home computer and work laptop.

Something Different.......2005-08-30

As obscure as the refrences to sex and the front cover is this book is really something different. although i have to admit that i didn't read the first two books, it still made sense. At first i couldn't really figure out Art and if he was good for coll or just a jerk. And seeing Coll mope over art at the beginging was really pathetic but something we all could relate to. But what was exceptional of this book is the message it held: that life is not always about love. And some of us need to remember that, i know i do when i mope that i haven't had a single date. This book really shows us alot and i would recommend it to anyone who is comfortable with the topic of sex. and it really is an exceptional find.
