Customer Reviews:
Must have in preparing for the CPA exam.......2007-02-13
I have found this book to be very good at explaining the CPA exam content. I have purchased several review books loaded wih practice questions and find this style of a book to be a very important supplement to the exam preparation. It's more like reading a novel than study materials.
Customer Reviews:
Key word is review.......2003-02-03
This realtively short book is a good place to review accounting principles and terminology with excellent examples provided covering Balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, etc. This was used as a supplementary text in a course I just completed that was sponsered by a Society of Financial Analysts and used in conjunction with the other material provided by the instructor this book was quite helpful. I will continue to use it as reference. However if you are looking for detailed training in accounting this is NOT the book to choose.
Highly recommended.......2002-11-28
I am a software engineer who needed to learn the basics of accounting in a hurry. If you know nothing about accounting, this book is for you. It is a small, thin (150pp) book that gives you 'just the facts' with simple real world examples (i.e. why is 7up an asset but Coca Cola is not?)
Not for those unfamiliar with accounting.......2002-07-10
While not a good source for those who have never taken an accounting course, this text is great for those who have taken an introductory course but need a concise refresher. As appropriately stated in the title, it is a review of the essentials of accounting.
Save your money.......2001-08-31
If you want just a general review of accounting go to about.com and do a search on accounting. They have better online articles on accounting. This book is a joke.
Review of essentials of accounting , Au:Robert N. Anthony.......2000-03-26
Concept of fundamental accounting principals were discussed in length giving pertinent examples. Balance sheet, cash flow and financial statements. Learning the language of acounting is presented in an easy to read format. I have gained good insight into the language of accounting. It's a good book to understand the fundamentals. I recommend to any one who is interested to learn the language of accounting.

From the supplier: A businesses can divide its corporate structure into an operating entity and an owning entity to escape judgment debt that arises from law suits. The operating entity conducts the business and is vulnerable to any liability the company may suffer. The owning entity controls corporate assets but is not subject to liability. Such a corporate structure renders businesses judgment proof. No principle of law exists that would allow courts to combine the two separate entities to combat judgment proofing.

Good enough to be used as a textbook.......2003-06-13
I am a college professor who teaches a career course and found this book to be good enough to use in the classroom. It covers all aspects of the job search and does a great job asking insightful questions of the reader. There are many pages of fill-in-the-blank questions where the reader can prioritize, set goals, and conjure up strengths. It is a very practical guide in helping someone search for a job, whatever stage of their career they may be in.
An excellent resource for anyone entering the job market!.......1999-04-13
This book gave me everything I needed to prepare a solid resume. Even when I was unsure about which words to use, "The Job Searcher's Handbook" had an entire list of words that got the attention of my new employer. I have loaned this gem of a book to at least 6 other people and all of them have raved about it. If anyone is looking for the comprehensive, easy to read guide to getting a job, changing careers, writing resumes, etc. "The Job Searcher's Handbook" is certainly it. Carolyn Robbins has a winner!

Book Description
The Maya Tropical Forest, which occupies the lowlands of southern Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize, is the closest rainforest to the United States and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Western Hemisphere. It has been home to the Maya peoples for nearly four millennia, starting around 1800 BC. Ancient cities in the rainforest such as Palenque, Yaxchilan, Tikal, and Caracol draw thousands of tourists and scholars seeking to learn more about the prehistoric Maya. Their contemporary descendants, the modern Maya, utilize the forest's natural resources in village life and international trade, while striving to protect their homeland from deforestation and environmental degradation.
Writing for both visitors and conservationists, James Nations tells the fascinating story of how ancient and modern Maya peoples have used and guarded the rich natural resources of the Maya Tropical Forest. He opens with a natural history that profiles the forest's significant animals and plants. Nations then describes the Maya peoples, biological preserves, and major archaeological sites in Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize. Drawing on more than twenty-five years of conservation work in the Maya Tropical Forest, Nations tells first-hand stories of the creation of national parks and other protected areas to safeguard the region's natural resources and archaeological heritage. He concludes with an expert assessment of the forest's future in which he calls for expanded archaeological tourism to create an ecologically sustainable economic base for the region.
Customer Reviews:
The book on the Mayans you'll want.......2006-08-10
If you are to visit the Land of the Maya, and the short sections on "History and Culture" in even the Lonely Planet or the Rough Guides aren't enough for you, then this is the book you'll want. The author is an expert in three keys to the Maya: (1) a thorough knowledge of the ecology of the tropical forests of Mexico, Guatemala and Belize, and of present day Mayans living there; (2) a command of the literature of modern Mayan studies, including the great synthesis of ecological-archeological research and the deciphering of classis Mayan writing which has overturned almost every old National Geographic cliche about "the mysterious Maya"; and (3) decades of professional experience in the creation and defense of ecological and cultural parks and reserves in the heart of the largest lowland tropical forest closest to the US.
The result is an insightful, informed window into a people and their forests, which can both benefit by your visit if you do it right. The major limitation of the book is it doesn't cover enough of the Mayan world, as it is limited to the lower elevation forests and Mayans where the Mayan Mexican states intersect the Peten of Guatemala and Belize. Many wonderful Mayans live in "cold country" in the mountain uplands of Guatemala and the Mexican state of Chiapas, but they and their pine-oak forests are not represented here, nor any of the speakers of the Huastecan branch of Mayan languages in the tropical deciduous forests of the hills of Veracruz state further north and west in Mexico. But if you are bound for the lowland forests where the ramon trees grow, this book will help you appreciate how and why the ramons have saved the Maya from famine and disaster for millenia in the past, and why the trees and their people should be protected and defended today.

Book Description
This book is about learning to sail. It follows the techniques perfected at the world-famous Annapolis Sailing School, where thousands of people just like you have learned to take tiller in hand and harness the wind. You'll learn your way around a boat--what its parts are called, what they do, and how to use them to ride the wind wherever you want to go.
Read this book, spend some time on a boat, and practice your new skills, and pretty soon you'll be a sailor, one of a select group of people who think there's nothing finer than hiking out to windward in a close-hauled dinghy--racing against friends or a neighboring sailing club, or alone and just for the fun of it.
Customer Reviews:
Great starter book on sailing.......2007-07-14
We just purchased a Sunfish and this book was a great primer for both me and my children (ages 9 and 10). Illustrations are very helpful and fun.
If you buy one "how to sail" book..........2007-03-08
This is the best introductory book on sailing small boats i have seen. It works perfectly with individual or group instruction and has been rated high by my son-in-law and three grandkids.
Nice book for YOUNG beginning sailors.......2007-01-26
NOT for adults. Geared toward sailing campers and so on who are young teenagers or younger.
Good, comprehensive book for learning the fundamentals of sailing.
Very good theoretical preview to sailing.......2007-01-08
This is a great boat because its make it simple, and thats really the key. If you can understand some of the basics from here, the physical sailing will be much more logical, and will assist you as you learn on the go.
If you have children you want to introduce to sailing also this is a good buy.
Excellent introductory sailing manual........2006-04-17
I purchased this book, as well as the "Complete Sailor" and "Sailing for Dummies" in an effort to learn to sail a 14 ft. dinghy, and I can easily say that "Learning to Sail" was the best of the three. It's very simple, with just enough basics to get you up and sailing safely. No, you won't be able to cruise to the Bahamas after reading this book, but it should be more than enough to let you enjoy a little freedom out on the lake. It was very nicely illustrated, with simple, straightforward instruction. It also had good illustrations on how to tie some of the basic knots in sailing, as well as where and when they're used. Overall, an excellent book for the beginning sailor.

Customer Reviews:
Wanna save money?.......2007-09-27
This book not only describes detailed info about valid tax write-offs, but also has an insight into how to think as a Landlord. As a first-time Landlord, the book put into perspective why a repair can sometimes be better than a replacement and why. Lots of really good info if you don't want to pay for an expensive accountant! Highly recommended!
Best friend at Tax time.......2007-07-06
I can't tell you how many times I've referenced this book. It is very easy to use and simply written, even if by lawyers! During tax time I have it right by my side, and it always seems to answer every quesion I have.
very easy and informative.......2007-05-08
Recently I purchased a rental property. I knew a little about tax deduction as a landlord. THis book gives you very detailed info and also gives you an examples after each topic so that you can understand how you can apply the info into your real life. I am not a very good reader, but I can easily read this book and understand.
Great item and transaction.......2007-01-09
Many thanks to the seller - the book was in great condition and I received it promptly
Absolutely Essential.......2006-10-31
I am a law student at Yale Law School and my husband is an attorney. We own and I manage about 5 rental properties. This book is absolutely essential for anyone owning a rental property. Do not depend on your accountant as a substitute as most accountants will not know this kind of detailed information about real estate rentals (unless they specialize in it or maybe have their own rentals.) My accountant who has been in practice over 20 years did not know a lot of essential stuff which I had to guide him through(it may be time for a new accountant). If I had not read this book I would have been doomed. Because I can qualify for the unlimited deduction (not just $25,000) for rental losses, we have literally saved tens of thousands of dollars in taxes we would have otherwise had to pay on my husband's salary, legally, with the guidance of this book. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is written in a very easy to understand format and gives you almost all the information you need in one place. You cannot rely on others to properly arrange your financial affairs in this specialized area. By reading this book you will know how to buy, finance, and repair properties in ways that produce the most effective tax benefits. Consider yourself lucky that you are aware this book is out there and purchase immediately if you own rentals.

The book of Dear Diary secret admire is about a teenager girl that meets the perfect guy on the internet, and when she meets that guy in Chicago the guy she saw in the photo was different from the guy she saw in Chicago, he was old, fat, and he was he's father's friend, and he's real name was, Bod steward. The setting was almost in school because she was always writting to him. The conflict is that Brittany's best friend got in her email and read everything about Randall and Brittany getting to meet.
