Excellent prepartory material for the Praxis Economics Test .......2006-04-04
I highly recommend this study guide. I first purchase Barron's AP Economics by mistake-- I read the reviews and one of the reviewer's suggested Kaplan. The reviewer was right. Barron was not what I needed; therefore, I purchased Kaplan. It was exactly what I needed for my situation. I am a special education teacher who has never taken an economics class before, but I wanted to take the Praxis economics test to teach a secondary regular education class. I am so thankful --- I passed!!!

Riahi-Belkaoui's research shows that U.S. firms, and possibly firms elsewhere, resort to the underutilization of their resources, a phenomenon known as organizational and budgetary slack. In this, the first exhaustive study of slack, the author identifies and explains the phenomenon and its causes, explicates the characteristics of organizations afflicted by it, and suggests ways to remedy it. In doing so, he also analyzes the role of the multidivisional structure and "the performance plan" in the creation of slack, and the distortion of information that accompanies it. This is a revised and expanded edition of a popular textbook on the economics of farm households in developing countries. The second edition retains the same building blocks designed to explore household decision-making in a social context. Key topics are efficiency, risk, time allocation, gender, agrarian contracts, farm size and technological change. For these and other topics, household economic behaviour represents the outcome of social interactions within the household, and market interactions outside the household. A new chapter on the environment combines exposition of economic tools not previously covered in the book with examination of household and community decision-making in relation to environmental resources.

Critical examination creates Best Summaries of the Issues.......2004-02-06
After reading thousands of pages on the debate of returns to scale in agriculture I was amazed to find this small book present the entire issue in just 20-30 pages without leaving out any position I had previously covered. As with all the other issues all sides are presented fairly and both neo-classical and marxist dogmaticism scrutinized. The chapters on Environment and gender relations were written in response to new developments since the first edition and are not as complete as the other issues. The book assumes no previous economic knoweldge and has a chapter explaining how to interpret the graphs used later in the book. unlike most textbooks the end of chapter summaries and "further reading" lists are actually useful.

I took it on vacation with me and I couldn't put it down. A great book for aspiring athletes and coaches as well as your average Joe who works 9-5. The coaches discuss a variety of topics from their childhood to how they motivate their players. Any easy read for all ages.

I've read through Game of Life and I enjoyed it very much. There are so many things to take from this book, not just into sports, but also some reflections on life. I would recommend this book to everybody.

A fun read, especially if yoiu're a sports fan. I read it in search of things that would help my own ability as a coach in my company. Much of it is light stuff but the easy read makes it fun nonetheless and there are few golden nuggets laced throughout the book.

Don't know anything about Anson Dorrance personally, but I love his books. There is so much great information. He really conveys his philosophy of how to become a great soccer player, and how a player should conduct themselves in high school and college. I enjoyed this book from a coach/parent standpoint, but I really think high-school age players could benefit from this as well.
One of the best soccer books ever........2003-03-01
Recently, I was sidelined in hospital, and my team bought me the book. I read it cover to cover twice, taking notes the second time.
Anson Dorrance has proven to be the guru for Womens soccer coaching in the United States. Some of the people he has shaped is a "Who's who" of soccer: Tony DiCiccio, Lauren Gregg, Kristine Lilly, Lorrie Fair, Cindy Parlow.... and some girl named Mia.
The book is written for players, but it is a MUST for any coach of girls, soccer or otherwise. In addition to talking about strengths and weaknesses in the current Womens game, he talks about the psychology of the team and player. He gives a no - holds barred insight into Tar Heel soccer, down to preseason drills, peaking cycles, intensity training and offseason training. It is all written in plain english that anyone can understand.
The entire UNC program is in here for all to examine. His thoughts on everything from his approach to injuries and resting players to recruiting players and demands for (scarce) scholarship money. He gives a good insight on the subject of soccer and scholarships that I wasn't aware of.
I highly recommend this book. It would be a bargain at twice the price. If you plan on playing Division I soccer, this book gives a good expectation of what the #1 program in the country looks for.

Usefulness of the Handbook.......2006-03-11
This handbook is a great asset for any college student that requires a great reference on all types of writing formats in an English course. The Handbook does clearify alot of misconceptions with writing formats such as MLA, APA, Chicago Manual, and many others. It also provides you examples on how the papers using such writing formats should appear on a paper.
I was able to even use for my research papers in History class even though i got it originally for my English course ENC1102.
BEST Writers Handbook of All ! !.......2005-11-13
I have found this to be the BEST writers' handbook of all the ones I've studied. I am a private tutor in Mountain View, California and I use it for my high school & college students.
It contains several great sections on how to develop ideas for writing essays, the best I've found anywhere. Plenty of examples for multiple disciplines: Social studies, Literature, Art, Business, and research papers. Well organized - each chapter contains references to other related sections.
Other texts I've reviewed (in order of preference): Simon & Schuster Handbook for Writers 5th, 6th, & 7th editions (Troyka); 2) The Scribner Handbook for Writers (DiYanni); 3) The Random House Handbook (Crews); 4) The Holt Handbook; 5) Harcourt & Harbrace; 6) Prentice Hall
Just what I expected.......2005-10-04
The book that I recieved what in the exact quality that it was listed to be in. I was a little disappointed in the amount of time that it took to get the book compared to other companies I have worked with on Amazon, but I understand it might not be the companies fault.

This book is about 2 twins that live with their parents and Jessica one of the twins seem to think that her sister doesn't like her. They have to sleep in the den which is also called a living room and Elizabeth thinks that they are going to have a boring time so she decides to ask if she can go spend the week at her best friend anns house but poor Jessica thinks that they are going to have a great time together since they haven't spent time together in a long time but Jessica thinks that it is a stupid idea for Liz to spend a whole week with Anne. Liz doesn't care so she leaves. So there relationship goes from being the best twin set in the world to fighting over a t-shirt at school to world war 3 says Salvador Jessica's best friend. Will they come together and be a twin set or will they tare there relationship into little pieces?
I recommend this book to all the girls who have problems with there sisters. I don't have any sister but I have brothers and cousins who I always argue with. One question that I had was why they have to fight in school over a t-shirt that's just so stupid especially when they are sisters.
I thought that this book was real fun and I really hope you read this book so you will find out what happened at the end. So if you are into drama books this would be the right book for you. This book can be found in the library in your school and you also can find it in the public library. SO DON"T FORGET TO READ THIS BOOK IT WILL BE GREAT FOR YOU
Good, But..........2004-11-16
This book was good, but I think that Elizabeth and Jessica's fight was kind of stupid, and the way their friends were so affected by it was kind of overdoing it, too. The book was pretty much about everyone being miserble the whole time because of Elizabeth and Jessica's meaningless fight.
Like I said, it was good, but I still give it 3 stars because it wasn't as good as the others. The ending was also kind of sappy, but is also a happy ending. If you like school drama kinds of books, then you'll love this series.

overall i thought im so outta here was really good. however i think it could have focused a bit more on something aside from the twins' fight. that was the only thing that it talked about. i think it could have mentioned lacy, kristen, and damon some more though. if you are looking for a summery continue to read; the painters are going to paint both jess and liz's rooms, and the twins are going to have to move to the couch for an entire week. jessica at first didnt like it, but the more she thought about it the more she liked the idea of major twin bonding. she thought elizabeth was thinking the same thing. however, liz's first thought was -anna's house. jessica thought that liz didnt want to be with her and so she got mad, but didnt tell elizabeth why. liz wondered why jessica was being so mean, and got mad herself. they take their problem way to far and start blaming their friends, and accusing them of taking the other's side. how will they stop? thats for you to find out...

This book was very sweet. I think this book is great for every age. This book revolves around a giant dramatic fight between Elizabeth and Jessica. It was such a big fight, that they didn't even talk to each other at all. Though this is a great book, and i mean it, i think it's only fun to read once, so maybe buying it here isn't a very good idea, and you should get it from the library, but i'm definetly reccomending this book to all readers. It is by far the coolest and sweetest book ever. I hope this review is really helpful to you! ...(I'm sure i've read every Sweet Valley book alive!)

WOW! I love this book! Liz and Jess have a huge fight, but inthe end, they finally get back together. It's soooo sweet, it makesyou want to be a twin. Well, here it goes. people are coming topaint the wakefields house, and the twins will have to sleep on thecouch for a WEEK! Jessica is thinking "Oh Finally! Here is sometime for Twin Bonding!" and Elizabeth just blurts out and says"I'm gonna call anna and see if she will let me stay @ her house4 a week. Jess is furious but doesn't tell liz that she is. She justacts all mean, and liz has NO CLUE WHY! but of course in the end theyget back together, and become bff s again. Also in this one, i don'teven think that they MENTION lacy frells! they may mention her ONCEbut that's all. I hope that this review was helpful to u!...
