        Many satellites have recently been launched or are in preparation, which operate in the microwave to IR ranges, the main objective being to observe the earth's atmosphere or interstellar clouds. Analysis of the data they supply requires extensive laboratory work because we still only have sufficiently accurate data (line positions, intensities, and profiles) for only a few species. Furthermore, the observer community is making increasing calls for laboratory data, as new development open up new observational possibilities (such as submillimeter observation). Research on these subjects involves many different areas of specialisation in fields of research that generate a wealth of data.
        In Spectroscopy from Space the people responsible for field observations explain which results they are expecting from their measurements and how laboratory people can help them to analyse their satellite data. Laboratory spectroscopists explain why what they can do now, and what kinds of experiment and theoretical development that might undertake to meet the needs of the remote sensing community. The problems of distributing reliable laboratory data in a timely way are also addressed.

          Description:
          Ultrastructural investigation of the root cells of Allium sativum L. exposed to three different concentrations of Cu (1, 10 and 100 @mM) for 9 days was carried out using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). The results presented here indicate that excess Cu induces ultrastructural changes such as strong vacuolization, condensed nuclear chromatin, decreased endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and ribosome and serious plasmolysis. EELS analysis indicated that electron dense granules containing Cu appeared in the cells after Cu treatment. The vacuoles of the root tip cells were the main Cu-accumulation site. Small amounts of copper were also localized to cytoplasmic vesicles or cell walls of cortical cells. The results of the present investigation have significant importance in further understanding the mechanisms of absorption, transportation and accumulation of heavy metals in plants grown in polluted soil.

                    I've been grooming dogs since I was 13yrs old, and luckily,My teacher was incredible. She specialized in Terriers.
                    As we all know you can go years without seeing any number of breeds. If you havent seen a Wire Fox Terrier in 15 years
                    one glance at the Illustrated Guide you will have no trouble. Trust me I've done it!!!

                      This is a phenomenal read. Heres what i like about this book: the book is so eloquently written that it doesn't need any pictures (i.e the authors do a great job of describing the fights.)
                      The stories are exceptionally interesting as well as inspiring for soon to be mixed martial arts fighters.
                      My favorite of the book was the description of Igor vovchanchin's early years, "vovchanchin grew up in a small village. Altough his early youth was relatively eneventful, during his teens he developed an insatiable apetite for brawling."I enjoyed street fights and got tremendously excited" he says " sometimes i became really aggresive, which was dangerous for my fellow villagers." AS igor grew older, his aggressive streak prompted villagers to hang a metal rail from the tree in the center of town; whenever young igor would fly into one of his rages, someone would bang on the rail. hearing the alarm, the villagers would drop what they were doing, hurry home, lock their doors, and remain inside until the hot headed teen cooled down and it was once agian safe to venture outside.
                      At age seventeen igor gave his fearful village a break and moved to kharkov ( the second largest city in Ukraine after Kiev)""... Conclusively this a great read for Anyone that loves fighting. Oh and this book was written in 2000 so it doesn't give any info on nog, mirko, fedor, or jackson.

                      5 out of 5 stars A Concise , Neatly Written History of the Sport.......2004-03-30

                      Up until six moths ago, I had never seen an MMA bout in my life. Since my recent introduction, my curiosity and respect for the sport has taken off in a way that surprised even me, and this volume has been a terrific resource in furthering my understanding and appreciation of the sport. The behind-the-scenes tales and historical anecdotes contained within its pages may be - as one reviewer noted - information that could be garnered by surfing through MMA WebPages. Yet, nevertheless, it's an appreciated convenience to have the information in one compact, chronologically ordered volume at your fingertips for about the price of a meal at Denny's. Added treats are exclusive, albeit short, interviews with a handful of well-known MMA fighters.

                      Beginning with a very brief overview of ancient hand-to-hand combat styles and competitions, and the emergence of 20th century Japanese fighting organizations, it then moves into UFC territory, supplemented with an overview of the development of Gracie jiu-jitsu and its subsequent reign over early MMA. The evolution of MMA styles, and the advent of various post-UFC MMA organizations, along with the political battles the sport has had to endure in America, makes up the bulk of the text, highlighting some of the fighters along the way who've had a considerable impact on the sport. Notable fights and tournaments are discussed in a play-by-play manner, in which Krauss-as is expected with any editorial author-shares his opinion on the bouts. Krauss also shares his opinion on MMA in contrast to other combat sports. This is not an encyclopedia; this is a personal insight into the history of sport, and more than just facts are put forth. The text is not meant to be gospel - you're free to disagree, but like any good history book, it is more than just dates and numbers.

                      Having only seen the UFC, Pride, and King of the Cage competitions, it was compelling to learn of the IFC, Superbrawl, RINGS, etc. It was also exciting to learn what happened off-camera at events I have watched, e.g., "UFC 19," when the camera panned away from the octagon after the Ortiz/Mezger rematch.

                      Other than one factual error on page 261, where Bustamante is cited as having defeated Liddell in UFC 33, everything appears to be in order, and despite others' claims of horrendous grammar and spelling, the prose of Kraus and Aita works just fine.

                      All around, this is an adequately accomplished history of MMA.

                      I actually enjoyed this book even though it was somewhat repetitive and did seem to talk up the Lion's Den. I enjoyed the stories of how certain fights were put on and the problems they faced. I also enjoyed the mini-bios of some fighters as well. Some stuff is common knowledge for the MMA fan, but still interesting. A little pricey, but I have no regrets. Good book.

                      5 out of 5 stars This book is correct. Take it from me, I've been there........2003-11-03

                      Mixed Martial Arts is the future. Sure, I did the boxing thing. (I sparred with Chris Byrd, for example, and let's just say I held my own, hee hee.) Sure, I did the Wing Chun thing. (Red sash, baby.) Sure, I've done a bit of Jiu Jitsu and submission wrestling. (Competed at a high level, in fact.)

                      But, only MMA brings all of these disciplines together. I'm a professional fighter in MMA now (in addition to being a writer), and I can tell you that this book brings it to you, the fan, with no holds barred. You get the straight scoop on the UFC from the beginning. It's almost like the writer puts you there, in the planning room, where the Gracie legend was born. (Not to give anything away, but let's just say that the Gracie legend is the product of some pretty creative and shady fight-fixing.) You will see the evolution of the UFC from fixed Gracie wins to legitimate sport. It's all there.

                      I've read thousands of books, and I will say that this is one thorough and cool history of MMA. I recommend it without reservation. Get it now! I tell all of my friends to read it, so that they can see where I'm coming from.

                      Awesome book! I'm really hard to please, especially when it comes to MMA competition, but this book was by far the most pleasing read I've had in a long, long time. Although the beginning of the book covered some information I aleady knew--how the first UFC came to be--it went far, far beyond that in later chapters. The most pleasing part of this book for me was the author's coverage of the Pride Fighiting Championsips. How he got an interview with Igor Vovchanchan, I have no idea, seeing that he speaks Russian. But you will not be dissapointed.

                      Nothing is left out in this read. You get thrown from the courtroom with promoters trying to keep their events from being shut down by police, into fighting cages around the world, and finally into the minds of the fighters themselves. The author talks not only the glory of the sport, but all the chaos that goes on behind the scene. I read the whole thing in less than two days--I couldn't seem to be able to put the thing down.

                      If you are at all interested in the sport of MMA, I highly suggest reading this book. I subscribe to many of the MMA magazines, but none of them get into the sport quite like this book does.

                      Garner's book helps to answer the many lawyer questions you get asked when trying to write legal documents or multiple-user documents in Plain Talk. Garner's approach reinforces Plain Talk and shows ways around the mountains of "What if?" and "How can we say it without risk?" issues. Because of its publication date, it lacks the most recent changes in punctuation as found in The Gregg Reference Manual. Also, some courts want things written according to their own "Red/Green" book standards. Even with these detractors, the book provides excellent advice, examples, and exercises.

                      This is an excellent book for law students, paralegals and lawyers. I have been learning so much with it. The writing is pretty straight forward, very easy to understand and learn. Enough with the legalese! Let's write well!

                          There are a lot of trivia books on the market. Most of them do not live up to their hype or our hope. This book is a happy exception. Peppiatt manages to have it both ways -- it is a fast-moving collection of short, punchy, themed chapters, while at the same time, it goes into some obscure, loving, fascinating detail. It also covers a great deal of ground on the country landscape, from recounting the time Garth Brooks was booed off the stage at an 11th grade talent show; to Ferlin Husky's alter egos, Simon Crum and Terry Preston; to Six Degrees of Red Foley. All in all, it's something any fan of country music will devour, and it just might make a few non-fans want to hear more. Good job!

                          This book was awesome. It had everything it needed. It was a great book. Ned gets accused for what he didn't do or so he says. He calls Nancy on the case to find out what's going on. If Nancy doesn't solve this case, they both get a failing grade. Read it. It's worth you're money.

                          This book is so cool. It's just Nancy and Ned so you know it will be romantic.By the first chapter you wouldn't want to put the book down. If you have a boyfriend and you all get into a fight related to Nancy's and Ned's (Nancy asks Ned a sensitive question and he takes it the wrong way) you can read the book and it could help you. So the book is absolutely great.(It happens to be my favorite Nancy Drew book.
