What money???.......2007-09-18
I signed up for the survey sites and so far I have only gotten worthless sweepstake entries. I have been on for a month. I thought secret shopping would be interesting but its not. A few of the companies listed are no longer around. I do not want to do secret shopping in the restaraunt feild and that is all that is available in her book.
This book does have many money saving ideas but it will cost you your time. Time vs Money?? Sometimes its just not worth it.
It does have tips on how to sell things online. But who does not know how to use Ebay????
Nothing new and/or exciting................2006-07-21
Good reference for someone just starting out.......but is not a definite "must have." You can spend very little time on the internet to find the same and MUCH MORE information for free. I was very disappointed to learn I had already signed up for the same sites mentioned in the book and have been a member for at least 5-6 years on those sites.
Good on saving resources, not so much on earning.......2006-07-16
I have been making money online since 1998 and am always checking out resources to help me make more. The Mom's Guide to Earning and Saving Thousands on the Internet offers some terrific savings ideas and resources in one place. It's especially helpful for busy moms who don't have time to research and investigate resources themselves.
I was very intersted in the earning aspect especially since it covered surveys and mystery shopping. I still don't feel this is a great way to earn income from home. I have tested many survey sites and have yet to get paid by the legitimate ones. Turns out I don't qualify for most surveys I'm sent. (I'm a 40 year old mom of two, married who owns a home...). I've gotten a free lunch with mystery shopping, but that won't pay the mortgage.
If you are looking for great resources and ideas to save money using the Internet, this is a good resource. But if you want to make money, this isn't your book.
The Mom's Guide to Earning and Saving Thousands on the Internet.......2006-03-26
This book is a great resource for oodles of websites for almost everything. Over the last few years I have spent a lot of time on the internet and already am aware of most of the content offered, but there was lots of stuff that was new to me as well. I was hoping for a little more on the earning 'thousands'aspect, but I think that is in part due to limitations on what is available on the internet. Of course, it also depends on how much time you are willing to spend doing these things. Overall, I thought this was a great comprehensive guide to anyone who uses the internet, not just moms.
They showed me the money! .......2006-03-09
I found this book listed in an article and it really caught my attention. I'm a part-time working mom but it never seems to give our budget enough boost. This book gave me such much needed information and insightful advice on how to change that without having to work more hours away from home.
I felt like the authors spoke directly to me and had been there, done that. Some of the topics I was familiar with, but there's a lot I didn't know along with a very organized approach on how I could make this work for me and my individual circumstances. This book hasn't moved from it's place next to my computer and I find myself consulting it almost on a daily basis.
So far, the earnings are adding up quickly (nice to have pin money in my pocket again!) but the real surprise is all the savings I never quite managed to put together in this way that the guide teaches.
All in all, it's a great little book and perfect for those struggling to make ends meet. Thumbs up from me!

Book Description
When individuals or organizations face significant situations or challenges, one of the first priorities is to understand the issues involved and to work out what needs to be done. In many cases, we do not need any formal assistance to help this process and can think our way through the steps that seem to be most appropriate. However, on occasion the issues or the problems may not be entirely clear and a structured approach can help considerably.
To meet this need, HRD Press has a suite of simple and easy-to-use but comprehensive diagnostic assessment profiles to help people understand their skills or the situations they face more effectively. HRD Press' diagnostic assessments fall into three categories:
Assessments that measure the individual are concerned with competency. These profiles provide participants with an inventory of their relative skills in subcategories within each topic.
Assessments that measure the team's or organization's performance as a whole (usually relative to the individual's perception of his or her own performance or level of competence).
Assessments that measure a particular task or situation in which the style that is adopted or utilized by the individual or by others is important to understand.
All of these assessments are described in detail on the subsequent pages. In most cases, assessments have comprehensive facilitator guides to explain the underlying structure of the profile and to help facilitators to provide structured feedback. Person and organization assessments also have detailed coaching guides which provide practical "how to" tips on each question in the relevant profile.

Book Description
Historically, research on the methods and amounts of trace element application to agriculture soils for correcting plant deficiencies has received major attention. More recently, due to industrial development and past disposal activities, trace elements are considered to be important environmental contaminants that affect all components in the atmosphere and in aquatic and terrestrial systems. Prepared by a multi-disciplinary group of scientists, Trace Elements in Soil: Bioavailability, Flux, and Transfer explores and discusses emerging issues in biogeochemistry research. The book emphasizes the role of biological and chemical interactions and discusses the newest research and its application to major environmental problems. It provides a concise compilation of current research and a handy, time-saving reference. With contributions from an international panel of authors, the book focuses on trace element issues in developing countries and environmentally sound techniques such as stabilization and bioremediation. Fundamental yet complex, bioavailability can be relatively simple to parameterize under controlled simulated conditions. This is not always the case under field conditions. To expand our understanding of the fate and transport of trace elements in soils, the methods of assessing trace element bioavailability, flux, and transfer among the different soil components needs to be redefined and developed. Trace Elements in Soil: Bioavailability, Flux, and Transfer is unique in its emphasis on bioavailability and how trace element contamination ultimately effects plants, wildlife, and human population.

Offers encouragement and points to where we can go........1999-08-26
This wonderful book gives us hope -- if we are willing to pitch in and work with others. It gives examples of how people in very different communities have come together to overcome difficulties and make significant improvements to their environments. Menominee Indians are maintaining a sustainable timber forest in the midst of land that have been devastated by loggers, and suburban Chicagoans are restoring nearby prairie lands to their original condition. Based on the authors' experiences gained while visiting these groups, the last chapter provides very helpful practical suggestions of how people can effectively be organized to bring about positive change. This book, if taken seriously by enough people, can turn us in the right direction
A harbinger of an ecological renaissance........1998-11-11
I have read the book and heard Jora speak -- they are both incredibly inspiring. Sustainability is one of those terms that is often used in ecological circles -- Ted and Jora give concrete examples of its application in our society, and from those examples flow hope. I bought this book thinking that I would read two scientists' view of ecology. When I finished I realized that I had not only learned some science, I had also been persuaded by the authors appreciation of the spiritual basis of ecology. Wanted: Reformers not of others, but of self.

Customer Reviews:
Good book.......2007-09-17
This is a good book, very informative, more techincal than Nick Schade (bought both at the same time). This and Schade's book go very well together.
Another class act.......2007-03-16
I don't know how anybody could go wrong buying this book ! I purchased Ted's first book Canoecraft way back in 1983 and it's covers are well worn a great book .It was the definative book at its time and I feel that Kayak Craft is the same today . If someone isn't able to build a kayak from this book ,then they aren't trying or shouldn't be trying .
I built several canoes with Ted's fist book and never bought a plan ever .
If you read thuroughly and pay attention it won't be hard.
Don't be afraid of this book . I'm glad I bought it the only way that this book could be better for me is if the very numerous and professional pictures were color . This is a very thorough book with nothing missing .
Kayakcraft: Fine Woodstrip Kayak Construction.......2007-01-10
This book is a must in any kayak builder's library. Very well written with clear comments on each stage of kayak construction, supplemented with excellent photographs. In addition, one can find in this book a detailed instruction on the stapleless kayak construction method and a miriad of practical tips on, among others, strongback assembly, sanding techniques, decorative methods of stripping and so on. A wealth of author's experiences talk through the pages. There is one feature of this book that makes it different from other books on kayak construction. The method of construction described allows one to build a kayak completely in two parts (hull and deck, inside and outside) and join them as the very last step by a simple glueing method. I built my first kayak using a different method and ended up with a pain in the neck and lower back supplemented by contortionist's skills while trying to finish the work inside the joined deck and hull.
While there is no book that tells everything on kayak construction this one comes close as an excellent reference for a novice and experienced builders alike.
As a suplementary reading, I would strongly recomment another book by Ted Moores "Canoecraft" with its excellent coverage of wood stripping and, in particular, fiberglassing techniques.
A neat book and an overly neat kayak builder!.......2006-07-27
This book is a pretty comprehensive and helpful overview of wood strip kayak building, although for my liking the designs are pretty dated. There are more modern building methods around, but this is a solid treatment of the subject nevertheless. The author would have to be the neatest builder I have ever seen, alternatively all the shots are staged. I cannot believe someone keeps his workshop so clean and neat!!
Kayakcraft: Fine Woodstrip Kayak Construction.......2006-06-30
Excellent info with great step by step insturctions with a great deal of detail and photos to eliminate most questions on construction. A must read for anyone interested in building their own strip Kayaks.
Book Description
This Italian word-power builder presents more than 5,000 words and phrases with translations into English. The feature that makes this vocabulary book distinctive is the way words are divided into themes, grouped together so that the foreign traveler or language student can find words related by subject. The subject themes include business terms, medical terms, household terms, scientific words and phrases, units of measurement, clothing, food and dining, transportation, art and culture— 24 separate themes in all. The new second edition has been expanded and updated with increased vocabulary.
Customer Reviews:
A great way to enlarge your Italian vocabulary.......2007-09-21
Barron's series Mastering Vocabulary is a great tool for language learners! As another reviewer points out, this is not a book for teaching yourself grammar. It is, though, a great way to move on from knowing the basics to being competent in the language.
Using a normal course, such as one in the Colloqial series, you will end up with knowing the grammar relatively well and with a vocabulary of 1500 words. That's a good start, but you need to know more words to get moving. The Mastering Vocabulary series is a great help along the way. By doing one chapter each week, you will know more than 7000 words after half a year. That is enough to live in a language where the language is spoken and use it in all everyday interactions and communication. My only real complaint with the series is that it's not available for more than four languages.
molto bene.......2005-04-16
The strength of this book is two fold. Having the vocabulary organized by categories such as 'Private Life, Social Relations' and 'Feelings, Thoughts, Behaviour', (to name a couple) is very useful. You can locate in the index the area that covers what you want to express. Secondly, the examples of how something is said, especially the idiomatic examples, are very valuable. Along the way there are helpful hints as to exceptions to the rule, warnings about cognate words, etc. All in all, a very fine resource.
The Best Italian Vocabulary Book in English.......2004-10-01
I own several Italian vocabulary books, and this one - while not the largest - is the best. It covers about 5800 of the commonest words and shows many of them in illustrative sentences. This book can be used by learners at any level, but would be difficult for rank beginners. The words are grouped according to theme as in other similar books, but this one stands out in three ways: the usage examples, the indication of irregular accents, and the inclusion of an index. And there's room to write your own additional discoveries in the book. It was originally written in German, but the English translation is unusually good. Plus, it's cheap!
The downside? An occasional typo has crept in, and rarely the Italian and English columns get misaligned for two or three words.
Two pages a day (with frequent review!) and you're on your way. Buon viaggio!
FINALLY...A USEFUL VOCABULARY TOOL ! ! !.......2004-03-03
This book is WONDERFUL! I have so so so many books to build vocabulary and this one is my all time favorite.
Have you ever picked up a vocabulary book and all the words are listed in alphabetical order, much like a dictionary? How boring is it to try and learn that way?
This book uses THEMES and creates SECTIONS with words ASSOCIATED with one another. So, it's never boring.
But it doesn't just teach you WORDS. It gives you GREAT phrases to put the words to work.
It's like getting a vocabulary AND phrase book in one.
If I could give this book 10 stars...I'd do it!
it is what it is.......2003-09-24
This is wonderful book for reviewing vocabulary. You should also know that French, Spanish, and German versions exist as well. The words covered are very helpful, especially for those who like to travel and need to know "easy" words that do not appear frequently in literature but do come up often in offices, stores, etc. Each entry offers a clear example of usage in its proper context. These books are so inexpensive, that it is worth taking one with you on a trip abroad, even if you end up abandoning it at the end to make more room in your suitcase for the books that you want to bring home.
