I bought it as a reference book during an MBA class in Financial Statement Analysis. Helpful and complete.

5 out of 5 stars A great, easy-to-read guide!.......2001-11-02

I've been using the Wiley GAAP guide for the past four years and I couldn't practice without it. It presents the standards in a clear and easy to read format. I find the interpretations tell me exactly what I need to know in plain English. I always know I can depend on this book for information and keep in handy on my desk at all times.

5 out of 5 stars The Only GAAP Guide to Purchase.......2001-11-02

The definitive GAAP guide. Readable, usable, and easy to understand, it is the best GAAP guide that I have ever purchased. It includes the most recent developments and analysis of all generally accepted accounting principals set forth in the pronouncements by the FASB, AICPA, and EITF. The analysis is what makes this guide so great and so practical. In clear and concise language, it explains and offers guidance on all of the pronouncements. Plus, it contains the more real world examples and more illustrations than any other GAAP guide.

1 out of 5 stars Cruel and Bizarre ..........2007-06-26

I had to stop reading after 56 pages. I fail to see the humor in the author's ineptness at trying to run a small farm (?) in New York in the 70s ~ especially since it is the poor animals that have to deal with the poor treatment. The dog has to stay outside because it sheds? Yikes. Also, certainly this couple wasn't going to starve, so the buthering of their pig, a young calf and the deaths of various other animals seemed so cruel and needless. Was I supposed to laugh when the butcher neighbor spouted being born again while the poor pig was disemboweled? Ugh. Not sure what this is supposed to say about kindness to living beings (it's okay to butcher if the pig is given a nice place to live first?) country living or family values as they obviously hid their young son from these realities. This is going in the recycling bin. The thought that this could end up in someone's hands who might find what the author did a good idea will give me nightmares.

                        5 out of 5 stars A great book, I loved reading it........1998-10-24

This book is a light and lively look into the lives of the authors family as they grow up and experience rural life in upstate New York.

The adventures they encounter with various animals and situations made me laugh and smile. Mr. Coffman paints a wonderful picture of the life he and his family experienced over the last twenty years.

This would be a great book to read to your children, I have with mine and they found it very enjoyable.

I enjoyed reading this book and so did my whole family.

                            Book Description

A practical guide-written by the grandson of the founder of Aikido-for those seeking greater understanding of both the basic forms and advanced techniques.

Aikido was developed by Morihei Ueshiba, who drew on Japan's rich history of martial arts to develop an entirely new system that preserves the classical tradition within a contemporary context. In Progressive Aikido, Moriteru Ueshiba, the grandson of the founder and the third Doshu (living symbol
and embodiment of the spirit of Aikido), focuses on the most fundamental principle of Aikido: proper movement. Using hundreds of photographs and readily accessible explanations, Ueshiba shows how this crucial technique is the basis for all training, whether as a beginner or as a senior instructor.
The book is based on a systematic, step-by-step approach that emphasizes proper movement to train in a range of Aikido techniques, from basic to advanced.

Quality photography and construction. Well formatted, but the content is similar to previous books by this author, the current head of the largest Aikido organization in the world, and grandson of the Founder. I guess I was just expecting his latest book to be more comprehensive and telling. It's still a good read, although a much better value at the Amazon price than the cover price.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful beginner's book on Aikido.......2006-07-13

I bought this book after comparing it with other similar books, including "Best Aikido" by this book's author & his father. I decided to buy this one because the photography was far better, and much of the presentation struck me as more clear and detailed.

So, any criticism of this book as old wine in a new bottle should be taken with a grain of salt. For someone already experienced in Aikido and owning introductory books, this new one probably has little to offer. However, my sense is that it's not an attempt merely to grind out a new book to sell which is really just old material. Rather, it seeks to present its material in a clearer, more accessible format. That is why I chose it as my first book of basic Aikido technique.

True, what this book says about Aikido philosophy is very brief. But that is such a large and important topic that one would do best to buy separate books devoted to that topic (as I have already).

So, if you want a well-illustrated manual on the basic techniques of Aikido, I find this is an excellent choice.

The Ueshibi family as continued the Aikido tradition founded by Morihei Ueshiba, handing down the lessons learned from O-sensei and presenting his art and philosophy to a greater world audience. This book, "Progressive Aikido," was written by his grandson Moriteru Ueshiba.

"Progressive Aikido" is essentially a workbook for those who are beginning their journey down the path of Aikido. There is very little of the Aikido philosophy, which can be found in other works such as ""The Art Of Aikido: Principles And Essential Techniques." Instead, it lays out techniques in a progressive, logical pattern starting with the fundamentals and going up to more advanced skills.

The emphasis on fundamentals and basic moves makes "Progressive Aikido" a solid reference for new students, enhancing the lessons learned in an Aikido class. No one is ever going to learn a martial art from a book, but it helps to check yourself against the pictures and get a glimpse into future techniques.

Those who have an extensive Aikido library will probably find "Progressive Aikido" redundant. The Ueshiba family has been very prolific in bringing Aikido to the world, and there is an impressive amount of books available. However, for those who are just beginning to practice the art, there is plenty of useful information and a solid framework around which to build their skills.

5 out of 5 stars Definitive work on mastering Aikido.......2006-01-19

Moriteru Ueshiba is the grandson of Morihei Ueeshiba, the Japanese master who developed Aikido, one of the most renowned martial arts in the world. Moriteru Ueshiba is Aikido Doshu and chairman of the International Aikido Federation.

The most important and fundamental element in Aikido is proper movement based on the principle of circular motion where the center remains stable (as in a spinning top). This new volume has explicitly detailed explanations of the movements accompanied by hundreds of clearly illustrated photos.

In Aikido, self-defense is equated with presence of mind, and the practice of the art is a path to harmony based on the integration of the mind and the body. It is not a competitive sport.

This latest publication by Moriteru Ueshiba will be valuable not only for the novice but for the advanced practitioner as well.

I have just begun in Aikido classes and this book helps to refresh between sessions.
The descriptions and pictures are much more detailed than the Best Aikido books.
                            Thanks Doshu!

At a time when many people are disillusioned with the Catholic Church, questioning the faith, and filled with doubts about the relevance of Catholicism in the modern world, Matthew Kelly reveals the essence of authentic Catholic spirituality while addressing some of the most important questions we face today as both individuals and as a Church.

This book was suggested by a priest to assist me in truly understanding what being a christian and Catholic means. I joined the Church at 27 and never really made the effort to understand what the Catholic Church is all about. It has made me take a good hard look at my life and the life I want to lead! I would strongly suggest this book to anyone in need of redefining their life!

I thoroughly enjoyed Matthew Kelly's insightful articulation of the beauty of Catholicism. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a spiritual jump-start or inspiration/encouragement to truly try and live a Catholic life.

I have read several of Matthew Kelly's books, but this one is by far my favorite. I have given this book to friends and gave a copy to a gentleman who was reading it over my shoulder on a plane. This is a book I just like having around me. It helps me to keep in focus my spiritual side.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Books that Brought me Back.......2007-03-16

Matthew Kelly gives a stunning and passionate yet still grounded in reality open to the world perspective and scope on how the ancient religion was never gone but just out of view for a while. Anne Rice returned after 30 years, I did after 15, and many others find their way back to Rome. All roads lead to Rome no matter what side paths you take. God will always forgive and if need be ... there is a Redemptist Order for those lost flock who are now found.

When I needed to navigate to my true soul's north star this was an instrumental book along with my old Catholic bible. The rosary made sense in the inner journey that surrendered my heart back to God and re-established the Catholic church as my compass. Matthew Kelly paints a stunning overview of just why Catholicism matters so intimatley in people's lives.

Just to give you a context of why this book is such a Catholic treasure ... I had not been to confession in 15 years because I had dabbled in New Age spirituality since freshman year at University. I had falsly come to the belief that my precognitive capacity had me in danger with the very church that ended up being my salvation from a secular existence comprised of career-driven, ambition seeking urban professional who only had time for friends, and a second income being a known intuitive and paid consultant on what the future would bring. In truth, my spiritual gifts were meant to raise and build the church ... nothing else.

You see, when a dark night of the soul came upon me it wasn't my tarot decks, my horoscope, my yoga teacher, chakra meditations, affirmations, incense, a secular psychologist, my own trusted and very expensive psychic, and most of all ... my own intuition that brought me back. It was prayer, confession, and books like this that restored my spiritual foundation. Being a Roman Catholic never leaves you ... you can take the girl out of the church but not the church out of the girl.

Great book for 'cradle Catholics' . Answers are given for so many of the questions we had as to Why are we doing this? What does it mean?
This book helped me with understanding our traditions upon returning to the Catholic church.
It has helped me with understanding which part of what I learned was VI and which was VII.
Matthew Kelly makes what can be a VERY complicated subject easy to understand and embrace.

Even if I didn't read every single "Hardy Boys" book there awesome. I just know because they fight and do boys stuff. I even read more "Hardy Boys" books than school work. I just wish they had a holiday where you read "Hardy Boys", for just one whole entire month (no school no nothing except reading "Hardy Boys").

Holy, man! I've read almost every single Casefile there is and I can list them all in order off the top of my head. I love their books and I think that they're great! The Casefiles are so much more interesting than the blue books. You know that there's always going to be danger and excitment in each book, but you also know that Frank is going to be teasing Joe and Joe is going to do something funny too. That's why I like all of their books.

I just started reading The Hardy Boys--before, I read Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys--but I think this was really good since Nancy Drew got kinda annoying after a while. It was interesting and it kept me reading--in fact, I pretty much read it in one sitting! Good characters and good plot.

                            5 out of 5 stars Pure Action!!!.......1999-02-22

I really love these new "Casefiles collector's editions" I've bought them all, and I think that this one is the best so far. In "Beyond The Law," Frank and Joe must help their old friend/enemy Ezra Collig, and clear him of extortion. In "Spiked!" they get involved in a case of murder in Southern Callifornia, and in "Open Season," the boys fight for their lives while on a cross country ski trip in the Colorado Rockies. I really enjoyed all three stories, and would recommend them to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars One of The Best by Franklin W. Dixon!.......1999-02-13

This is a great series of books together! I espscially love Uncivil War(since the civil war i just love!) Choke hold is very suspenseful. Dixon stops the chapter right when something is happening to Frank or Joe. I just love it!
