The most comprehensive theory of capital to date. Absolutely brilliant. It also contains the marginal utility theory which displaced the labor theory of vale (Smith, Ricardo). Also it has brilliant essays and critiques of the competing interest theories going back to Aristotle and including the socialist explotation theory of interest, the productivity theories and the agio theory. A warning howevor. This book is none to easy to read. If you think Smith and Ricardo are boring you had better brace yourself. Tremendously original, just unbelievably hard to read.

Essays in this book included his famous "The Methodology of Positive Economics" and "The Marshallian Demand Curve". There are other essays on monetary economics, price theory and methodology. You can learn a lot from this book about Friedman's way of thinking

Great starter for pre-teens.......2005-07-27

A great book for pre-teens and their parents. It has ideas on how to involve your child in the planning of a camping trip. They tell you not to hesitate to make a trip first just to your own backyard, something that I always reccommend as a test run of your skills and your gear. And you can have repeat visits to the yard anytime you like, cause the kids just love it and it's easy on you. Naturally it has advice for longer trips into the real woods, from gear selection, to packing lists, how to pack it all in, how-to put it toghether, how will you cook, how to light a fire, and more. But it also has a great emphasis on what to do when you get there, how to plan fun for the kids, (or how to keep them busy) and includes nature activities, games, and songs. It also has some great but simple camping recipes. 64 pages with full-color illustrations. Try the other book from theses authors, "Cooking On A Stick", it is mostly recipes but a great book for any camping library.

My children and I were introduced to this book through a friend who'd heard the author speak. We've used several of the ideas in our latest camping trips and found it very useful.

Sleeping in a Sack.......2000-03-09

I found this to be a great resource for kids new to camping. Checklists, ideas for low-impact camping, and activites abound in a very user-friendly format. Not necessarily great for more experienced campers, but perfect for my first-grade Girl Scout troop!

Title doesn't fit subject matter.......1999-07-10

This is where ordering a book through the internet is a little disappointing, as you can't browse the book before purchasing it. "Camping Activities for Kids" is very light on the "activities." It does a good job of laying out items that should be brought along on ones first camping trip, but falls short on suggesting outdoor activities for kids. The activities that are suggested are a little simplistic. For example, "laying sticks apart from one another and pretending it's a river, and then have the kids jump over it and playing golf with sticks and using pine cones as balls." I was hoping for more endepth activities. If it's your first time camping this books okay, but if you've camped for awhile and your kids are a little older the book falls short so look for something else.

Not for Perfect Rhymers.......2007-01-26

For a person who limits rhyming to only perfect rhyme (example: say and day,) The Complete Rhyming Dictionary is too complicated and complete for them. These rhymers should really purchase an alphabetized volume of rhymes.

Wood's book is arranged by vowel sound, not alphabet. If a reader looks up the sound----long "a" as in the word day-----, he will see words such as say, day, lay, may etc. But what if none of these perfect word rhymes fit sensibly into a poem that you were working on? A rhymer might need to deviate slightly off from these 'perfects', still get good rhyme, and make sense within their poem. Wood's work makes this approach easy. All a reader has to do is look at columns next to the long "a" sound and find a multitude of other words to work with. For instance, the word "day" is close in rhyme to "afraid". A poem writer can use these two words which are definitely not perfect rhyme, but close enough. This close-enough approach is used especially in song lyric writing. When sung the "d" in afraid is hardly noticeable. A listener of music will only really hear the long "a" sound and think it is perfect rhyme.

Too Complicated.......2007-01-19

You're writing a poem or song. You've got one word, and want a rhyming word. So you need a rhyming dictionary. Look up the word you know and find other rhyming words. How simple does it get? Well with this dictionary - forget it. This is arranged NOT alphabetically by word, but by vowel "sound". They have transformed what should be a simple process into a chore.

If you do a research for rhyming dictionary - this is the best you'll ever find. It does take some time to figure out how to use it but after a while it becomes a useful tool.

Help in writing poetry and other things.......2006-11-03

I purchased this volume in a hardbound version years ago and wanted a smaller copy for our summer house, since I use it so often. Some may think using a rhyming dictionary is "cheating," but it simply offers suggestions and guidance.

Also, having this English language version helped me realize that such a volume is also great for a foreign language student. I believe this particular version only comes in English. However, having something similar in other languages is a good way for a student to increase vocabulary and insight.

If you've never written a verse for a friend on their birthday, Fathers' Day, Mothers' Day, etc. try it. This book will help you put into words "who they are" for you, in both humorous and serious ways. It offers super suggestions, plus options on every vowel sound, both single and multiple syllable.

Highly recommended to boost your creativity!

Old Poet Checks Rhym.......2006-08-10

This book contains rhyming lists of great depth. As an older poet and writer, I find it is very useful because I have forgotten some of the words I need and find new ones I can use. Gene Miller
