Great Overall View of Every Aspect.......2005-08-28
There have been lots of fortunes made in real estate. There are lots of ways to make money in real estate. Some people swear by buying rental properties. Some want apartment houses or commerical property, warehouses, storage units or whatever. There are those who buy run down building and fix them up. And there are those who build houses. Some books talk about buying distressed properties at auctions or estate sales, neglecting that there are a lot of people looking for deals like this, especially the real estate agents in the area. This book covers all of these ways and many more. It's a generalized coverage of real estate investing in all of its aspects.
The author, Stuart Leland Rider is a long time real estate developer and investor. He writes from personal experience. He covers nearly every area you could ask from why real estate at all to providing a CD with customizable forms and spreadsheets to give you a start on the analysis that you need to do.
There's just one point I'd recommend that he doesn't mention. That point is: if you're seriously thinking about real estate, go get a job working in real estate. Probably the easiest job to get and the one that will give you the most general background is to be a salesman at a small real estate agency. But if this is not your bag, go to work for a contractor, a handyman, or whatever your particular interest might be. You'll learn a lot. This may be things that you can learn from this book, but if you actually see them in action you'll understand them better.

Book Description
This is a report on plants that show promise for improving the quality of life in tropical areas. Because the countries in this zone contain most of the world's low-income populations this report is addressed to those government administrators, technical assistance personnel, and researchers in agriculture, nutrtion and related disciplines who are concerned with helping developing countries achieve a more efficient and balanced exploitation of their biological resources.
The 36 plants described here were selected from among 400 nominated by plant scientists around the world. (To keep the project to manageable size, medicinal plants and timber species were excluded.)

A Concise Historical and Scientific Jupiter Two Reference.......2004-03-01
This book contains a nice balance of historical text, systems drawings, and mathematical equations that describe the development of the Jupiter Two spacecraft.
The history layed out runs from 1970 beginning with the President's "State of the Union Address" all the way through October 1997 when, as all Lost in Space fans know, the Jupiter Two was launched. During these developing years you find out who developed the equations, which scientific corporations were involved and what their contributions were, what preceeded the Jupiter Two in terms of early exploratory spacecraft and probes, and so forth.
The plotting equations will be recognized by anyone who has taken trigonometry. The engine design equations are much more complicated. Even though I took a year of calculus in college, these equations are beyond that.
The drawings and schematics are nicely detailed and believable.
It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the acronyms used in this book. Also, the timetable for a project of this magnitude was probably a bit ambitious especially given all the delays and cost overruns we hear about real projects going on in our daily lives.
However, if you're a Lost in Space fan and you want a believable account of how the mission to Alpha Centauri developed, this book should fit the bill.
Everything I wanted to Know about the Jupiter II.......2000-08-11
A very interesting book which explains in excellent detail (diagrams and formulas) the science behind the propulsion system of the ship. Technically dynamic in all areas of the ship it has some unique interior layouts of the saucer. I would have loved to have had this information when I was watching the TV show. Also goes into may other features of the craft: Guidance, Navigation, controls, all nicely layed out and explained. If you enjoyed "Lost in Space" then you should pick this one up.
Science Fiction Techno-fantasy.......2000-03-14
Past sci-fi tech books such as the one I created will hopefully generate interest in physics and mathematics. Besides being entertaining to the Lost In Space fans I hoped to show a realistic scale and dimension of the Jupiter 2 spacecraft. Episode titles I would encourage to watch in regards to the Jupiter 2 flight systems are: "The Raft", "Blast Off Into Space", "Wild Adventure", & "Cave of the Wizards". The "Jupiter(NICV)Maintenance & Calibration Manual" is now ready. In February of 2003, I had the privilege to meet Mr. Mark Goddard and to present to him a copy of the Propulsion Specifications as well as a preliminary copy of the new NICV Maintenance and Calibration Manual. He had pre-viewed my work and had this to say:
"On behalf of the cast of "Lost In Space", I am privileged to acknowledge Earl Hooks' imaginative and technically challenged, designed specifications of the Jupiter 2. As I scanned the preliminary print of this thoroughly inspired manual, I was amazed by the thought of the time spent, technical knowledge, and deeply committed work ethic of Mr, Hooks.
The presentation of this manual based on reviewing shows on Lost In Space is genius!.
As the pilot of the Jupiter 2, if I had a copy of this manual during the flight with the Robinson's to Alpha Centauri, all mechanical problems would have been a cinch to solve. Therefore our journey would have been successful and we would never have been Lost In Space."
This new manual is no joke. It contains schematics, assembly diagrams, calibration specs and procedures on all major equipment as seen on the first 6 episodes of the 1st season of Lost In Space. More detail than the previous Propulsion Specifications. Detailed technical specifications on the Astrogator, Astrogator maintenance and alignment, B-9 Robot assembly and programming information, Chariot construction, Laser Rifle/Pistol, Engine Room, Fuel distribution system, Reactor Chamber, Drilling Rig, and Flight deck!! To be honest ...this was supposed to be the initial release of the NICV Propulsion Specifications.
The Jupiter 2 Propulsion Specifications contains schematics, 2 dimensional cutaway diagrams of all SNRGS navigation and Engine Room systems, as well as Lift-Off Engine start up procedures. This book is the backbone - the outline for the NICV Maintenance and Calibration Manual. This book is for all Lost In Space fans who treasure believable technological sci-fi that brings the world of Lost In Space into a scientific perspective of reality!! This book does it! The NICV Maintenance and Calibration Manual will allow you to go even deeper within the Jupiter 2 systems! Check out CSHobbies.com or technafantasia.com for more info!!
Enjoy!!

By far the most literate of baseball's commissioners, the late Bart Giamatti, former president of Yale, was the game's most unashamedly vocal fan both before and during his tenure as chief executive. The child of immigrants, he embraced baseball's very Americanness, and ascribed to its simple goal--coming home--a far-reaching, overall metaphor. His ardor was unguarded and unabashed, his approach sentimental and as expansive as a pair of foul lines diverging in the distance. Giamatti's oversized passion infuses everything in this slim volume, from his wistful elegy to Tom Seaver and his admonition to fans to clean up their act, to his pained public statement banning Pete Rose from the game for life. Best of all, his seductively lyrical essay "The Green Fields of the Mind" leads off the lineup. The latter alone--it begins by poignantly observing of baseball, "It breaks your heart. It's designed to break your heart"--is worth the price of admission.
Book Description
With a foreword by David Halberstam. He spoke out against player trading. He banned Pete Rose from baseball for gambling. He even asked sports fans to clean up their acts. Bart Giamatti was baseball's Renaissance man and its commissioner. In A GREAT AND GLORIOUS GAME, a collection of spirited, incisive essays, Giamatti reflects on the meaning of the game. Baseball, for him, was a metaphor for life. He artfully argues that baseball is much more than an American "pastime." "Baseball is about going home," he wrote, "and how hard it is to get there and how driven is our need." And in his powerful 1989 decision to ban Pete Rose from baseball, Giamatti states that no individual is superior to the game itself, just as no individual is superior to our democracy. A GREAT AND GLORIOUS GAME is a thoughtful meditation on baseball, character, and values by one of the most eloquent men in the world of sport.
Customer Reviews:
Ok..........2005-07-19
The language of Giamatti is wonderful and there are some interesting stories in here. It is nothing more then that and it really wasn't my cup of tea. I would have liked to see some more intertwined stories about his life in baseball. I guess this was as good as it was going to get.
A Glorious Book About A Glorious Game.......2004-01-03
When renaissance scholar A. Bartlett Giamatti was asked to become president of Yale University, he said the only presidency he had ever aspired to was that of the American League. Instead, a few years later, he took the helm of the National League, and shortly after that, became commissioner of baseball. Tragically, his tenure in that office ended after only five months with his sudden death at the age of 51.
But Giamatti's legacy endures. and those who seek to understand or re-embrace it need only turn to this gem of a book. It's all here, opening with his wonderful essay, "The Green Fields of The Mind," which famously begins "It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart." There's his farewell to Tom Seaver, where the departure of Seaver and his wife Nancy from the Mets calls to mind a famous painting of Adam and Eve's expulsion from Eden. The book closes with its most powerful and saddest item--a statement Giamatti released to the press after banning Pete Rose from the game for life for betting on baseball.
If you love the "great and glorious game," you must read this book. Savor the beauty of the prose and the passionate idealism that drives it. And pause for a moment to reflect on what the game--and the world--lost with Bart Giamatti's passing.--William C. Hall
just loved this book..........2002-01-04
I read this book outloud with my 12-year-old son in October 2000 during the playoffs and world series. We had borrowed it from the library, and ever since then he's been asking me to buy it. We finally have and now he's reading it again on his own. I thought it was too advanced for him, but there is a passion in this book you can't miss.
The dignity of this great game........2000-10-25
Mr. Giamatti is very eloquent in his writings on the game of baseball. Of the many chapters, the one most appealing is the last chapter on Peter Edward Rose. I am an extreme fan of this great game and his words on that issue alone send chills through me everytime I read it.
If you love baseball, then you will love reading this book.
A very passionate man.......2000-07-18
Throughout this book Giamatti is referred to as an idealist by others and at least once by himself. There is not a more accurate description of his writings contained in "A Great and Glorious Game."
What seperated Giamatti from others of like mind was his ability to act upon his impulses. Most famously, banishing Pete Rose from ever being associated with baseball again. An incredible unfortunate situation, but to all those who cannot accept Giamatti's judgment please read this book. For myself it clarified his motives and subsequent actions.
Beyond anything to do with Rose, this book is thoroughly engaging. Giamatti deftly exemplifies why many of us continually return to baseball every spring. Recommended for any baseball fan.

Customer Reviews:
Beautiful Cards and Great Buy!.......2007-10-09
Arrived in the mail today and I'm extremely pleased! Super buy ~ full-sized paperback book included along with a beautiful (free!) "Ancient 10-Card Tarot Spread" Poster AND the cards are extremely beautiful! Having had the "original" set, I was very glad to see the more colorful Universal and Radiant sets come out. I could not imagine the Radiant set being more vibrant and beautiful than this (Universal). I think it is the correct "fit" (at least for me) of all three of the "classic" Waite Decks. You won't go wrong with this item ~ you'll be extremely pleased and happy!
"A" good material.......2007-09-08
This is a good companion to Classic of Changes. I'll recomend it my friends.
Cards good but book very basic.......2007-09-03
The cards are great but its not worth the extra money for the book. Just buy the cards on their own. The descriptions for each card were very short. It would have been useful to be able to read some of the pages before I bought it.
Most beautiful Rider Waite deck.......2007-07-12
I usually purchase this deck to give to friends and students because it is beautifully coloured. When reading the Tarot it is very important to connect with the deck, and this most certainly is a connectable deck.
Excellent.......2007-06-27
I got these cards because it included a book. the book is a bit difficult and i don't really read it. although when i become more advanced it will probably be easy to comprehend and will come in handy. but the cards are great! very pretty and bright. whoever did it is a good artist. i've grown to love those "characters". lol. as you know they help you out daily. it is a good deck.
Product Description
The serene Universal Waite Tarot is perfect for meditation and readings. The deck is a soothing, eye-appealing complement to the traditional Rider-Waite deck. The drawings of Pamela Colman Smith have been beautifully re-colored by Mary Hanson Roberts.
Customer Reviews:
the Waite deck done in Aquarian deck art.......2007-10-13
Love this deck, muted colores don't "scream" at you, this deck is very easy to learn, and I always shyed away from the original Waite or Rider Waite because something made me uncomfortable in the artwork. This clone deck is beautiful and has a very "soft" quality to it. It also does not stray from the symbolism, but presents a more gentle image.
The best alternative to the more blunt, garish original............2007-09-14
I have around 65 decks and among all the complete RWS clones out there, this is my favourite. I was always put off by the orginal colouring and thick lines, ugly!
When I came across this and delicate, exquisite and sumptious re-colouring by Hanson-Roberts I was very delighted! I love her way of drawing and use of colour(among my other favourites are her signature deck and the Whimsical) technique. The details just pop out and sing their message. It's astounding how simple colour changes and line restructuring can totally change your experience with a deck you formerly couldn't work with.
So many books use the RWS for study and illustration, and it's been a treasure having this gorgeous deck to take out and follow along. As an alternative to the basic or original versions, this comes the most highly recommended by me!
A very pleasing deck to use.......2007-06-07
I began with the Original Rider Waite tarot deck and found the colors and thick lines unpleasant. In contrast, this version of the Waite deck is beautiful. The drawings have been retraced in a finer line and the pastel pencil coloring is carefully shaded and very appealing. I think the images looks less cartoonish than in the standard Rider Waite deck. This deck also has a glossy protective coating that looks like it will withstand a lot of use. Overall the Universal Waite is a wonderful deck to use. My one complaint is the packaging is flimsy and it's hard to get the deck back into it. Too bad it doesn't have the same style packaging as the pocket version of the Universal Waite. So, five stars for the deck minus one star for the packaging.
Very Nice color tones!.......2006-11-30
This deck is more appealing then other decks. I use my Universal Waite Tarot Deck mostly for meditation.
A slight change on tradition.......2006-11-13
This deck is the traditional Rider Waite Smith with colour added. That makes for an interesting twist on a traditional deck. I personally do not like all the yellows on the real RWS deck, so this deck is really appealing to me. It has nicer and softer colours, but the images are not changed to toyed with in any way. You get the tradition without the drab colour scheme. I really liked this deck and get a lot of use from it.

Customer Reviews:
A great work of fiction made even more enjoyable!.......2007-10-01
This book is the perfect solution for people that want to follow along (checking out the paintings and such), without having to read at your computer googling every couple pages. The first time I read the normal edition (that I had borrowed from the library), but when I went to buy my own copy I saw there was an illustrated edition and bought this one instead. There is no comparison - I enjoyed the book even more with all the extras I could want right there in front of me and can't imagine reading it any other way now.
I do recommend the illustrated edition.......2007-09-03
I would definitely recommend if you're going to read this book that you read the illustrated edition, as I found it was a great help in understanding the points of discussion in the book, myself having limited knowledge on the topics of historical architecture or Leonardo Da Vinci.
The book was interesting enough, there where however a few slow parts that I found difficult to get through. Which leads me to question all the attention the book received in the first place? The book is clearly fiction so to all those who seemed to be offended by it I can only say "Don't believe everything you read".
Its a page turner..........2007-08-22
Great paced, but don't throw out your bible and convert to the church of the feminine for goodness sake...
Awsome Special Edition of Da Vinci.......2007-08-15
I was given this book as a Christmas gift and enjoyed it so much, especially the pictures of the locations the story takes place in, that I bought it to give to someone else.
A Good Mystery Thriller.......2007-08-14
If you haven't even remotely touched/read the book.. I highly suggest you get this Special Edition. If you only have the original paperback, you should still get this Special Edition!
The depicted pictures are of signifant reference to the story-telling. And this book is evidently something to read more than once.
If you have to choose between the movie or the book, I would suggest reading the book. I did not find the movie as entertaining as the book captivating.
