EXCELLENT.......2005-03-22

I had the pleasure of taking this class from the author of this class. Dr. Henderson is not only absolutely excellent teacher, he is an equally good writer. I was not an economics major, and was somewhat fearful about taking "Economics of Medicine" as a class, but this book is thorough, organized, and easy to understand. It is an excellent book for economics majors as well as those majoring in other health care related professions who have an interest in learning more about the current health care system and related policies.

Emerged from the Lewinian tradition of research into organizational behavior, motivation, and change, here is a conceptual but practical way for HR professionals and others in today's organizations to understand better, more quickly and reliably, what the underlying human problems in their organizations are. Cunningham proceeds from the conviction that the key to solving organizational problems is in the hands of people, and that when people talk about the problems they experience they are reflecting their values and beliefs. The way to get people to do that is through a style of inquiry called indirect questioning--the Echo approach. This approach, which managers and executives in all types of organizations will find helpful and extensively useful is the subject of Cunningham's examination. The Echo approach is designed to bring to the surface and measure the values and beliefs held by a group of people and the organizations they comprise. Cunningham illustrates how this approach works, how to design interviews, surveys, and observations that actually "echo" peoples' values and beliefs--the obvious ones and those they keep hidden. Readable, well illustrated with cases and examples, this book will help executives at all levels understand better what people in these organizations are actually thinking and saying. In doing so it will help organizations become more productive and be more desirable places to work.

Art and Science - Simply Beautiful! .......2007-07-17

Each month contains an eye catching colorful photo surrounded by a black border (just picture & border, no interfering text to take away from the beauty of the photo). The description of what you are seeing is on the date page of the calendar. This calendar lists all holidays normally seen in any calendar plus noteworthy dates on space exploration history and Hubble/Astronomical items of interest. There is also a pull-out of major foreign holidays. There is plenty of room to make your own notes.

Hang this on your wall and your eye will just go straight to the picture. Interesting reading as well.

The 2002 Hubble calendar is even better than the 2001! More nebulae and even a Herbig-haro object. The Ring Nebula, the Eskimo Nebula, and a beautiful blue reflection nebula are my favorites. Last year's had a couple radio images and planetary images that weren't as spectacular as the deep-space ones; 2002 is all deep-space.

As last year, this year has multiple factoids on most days of the month. Birthdays of famous astronomers and physicists, milestones in science, and acheivements in the Space Race. Definitely recommended for anyone who loves to "keep looking up."

The book is very interesting but somewhat old fashioned. More up to date would be : a clear picture for every plant mentionned, plus a determination clue per genus.
Nevertheless I know upfront that it was written more in a textual way, and I am very pleased with it because it gives enough answers on recent taxonomic changes and updates.

Excellent......or should I say, necessary guide for beginners........2006-02-14

This book was actually my first ever Amazon.com purchase almost 10 ago. It is a must have for anyone new to the sport of kayaking and just getting down the art of the bombproof roll, something essential for Class 4 whitewater or greater. This is a book with excellent illustrations and in-depth explanations, which allow one to visualize how a specific roll is done, even if there is nobody there showing you first-hand. This book has it all: the regular Eskimo roll, the two-handed roll, the one-handed roll, and even the no hands roll. And even non-roll techiques are presented here, such as wave surfing. Practically whatever you want to learn, it is in this book.

I heartily recommend this......a must-have to anyone new to the sport.

bombproof book.......2003-08-12

this book taught me to roll, on my own, no instructor. derek hutchinson's book is a classic but dutkey's is an instruction manual.
personal creed: if you cant roll, don't go further than you can swim to shore. ergo, if you sea kayak, buy this book.
forget the pawlata, it's impractical. go for the sweep roll and relish the freedom having a bombproof roll brings to your paddling.

I bought this book around the time it first came out about nine years ago or so. Not only is it useful for learning the kayak roll, the author also covers "old school" playboating maneuvers such as wave surfing, side-surfing in holes, 360's, enders, and pirouttes. The illustrations are diagramatic and especially helpful. Rolling techniques included are the "C-to-C" or snap roll, the sweep roll, back deck rolls, hands rolls as well as rolling stategies and exercises. Definitely one of the most helpful kayaking technique books I have read.

I bought this book for my boyfriend, he has been using it for months and frequently goes out to practice what he has learnt from the book. He has become a skilled padler and almost everthing he has learned has come from this book. Its the best gift I ever bought for him.

The Bombproof roll and beyond is an essential book for any novice or intermediate kayaker. This book does and excellent job of explaining through both text and illustrations the different steps involved in just about any roll imaginable (c to c, sweep, back deck, hand roll). It also provide excellent tips for identifying and correcting problems with rolls. An outstanding book. An essential in any kayaker's library.

This is an easy cross reference book. This book was part of the selection of books at a home we stayed at on the Bid Island, and I was happy to find it on Amazon. I am having fun with it.

This book has around 11,000 words with adequate definitions.

I like the fact that the people that compiled this dictionary included names and even a guide to assist in pronounciation.

This nook is not an exhaustive researh on the Hawaiian language; but will greatly assist in research; Two Bears.

This book is a wonderful guide for all the psychiatrists who would want to be introduced to the field of psychopharmacology. I would recommend this highly. The book is in an A thru Z pattern and I would have liked it better if the drugs were arranged in a "drug class" fashion.

This book is well worth the purchase. It provides the most useful pearls of wisdom, as it relates to medication prescribing, drug monitoring, and patient education. Unlike some drug reference books, this prescriber's guide is not overburdened with small print research statistics(like the PDR).It is a quick reference guide, with very well defined categories/subheadings.
