Book Description
In their highly regarded 1991 book, The Effective Board of Trustees, the authors identified six skill sets or competencies that differentiate strong governing boards from weak ones. Now they have taken their research to the next level by conducting an in-depth study of how the boards of colleges, universities, and other nonprofit organizations can raise their level of competence. In this new book, the authors detail the findings of this study and address the topics of effective trusteeship, board development, board cohesion, trustee education, and the improvement of board processes. They also discuss effective ways of responding to the resistance some trustees and institutional leaders exhibit toward board development efforts. All of the recommendations offered in the book have been field tested. The text is enhanced with charts and exhibits, and revealing quotes from board members who participated in the study appear throughout.

Book Description
With a sense of urgency, Dr. Tyler has collected and transcribed some 750 folk remedies still alive in the memories of more than 175 Hoosier-area correspondents. The pharmacologist, who has thirty years experience with natural-product remedies, fears these cures will soon be forgotten, since modern medicine usually writes them off as hoax, and those who practice them are becoming fewer and fewer. By suggesting further investigation of some remedies, warning readers against downright dangerous "cures," and noting the constitutive ingredients of those proven effective, Tyler invites further illumination of this shady region between superstition and science while entertaining his reader with much fascinating medical tore. Hoosiers, folklore followers, physicians, and pharmacologists will appreciate the meticulous clarity of Tyler's scientific commentary on folk medicines.

Largemouth Bass; an In-Fisherman handbook of Strategies.......2005-10-03
Largemouth Bass; an In-Fisherman handbook of Strategies
This Book tells, in a very organized way, the basics of Largemouth Bass fishing. It covers almost everything you need to know, from where they tend to live, to what lures you use for different situations. This wonderful book has helped me immensely, not only with largemouths but even Bluegill, Crappie, Perch and more. I enjoy my time fishing much more after reading this book. It is surprisingly well written and held my attention well, with the exception of the chapter that told about the different lakes and their characteristics. However, That was likely the chapter that I found most helpful. If there was one thing I would change about the book, it would be that I would make the book longer, particularly the section on lures, I practically have it memorized. If you (like me,) enjoy reading about lures, I would also recommend The Bass Angler's Almanac: More than 650 Tips and Tactics by John Weiss All in all I would rate Largemouth Bass; an In-Fisherman handbook of Strategies ten out of ten. This book comes highly recommended!
P.S. If you wish to buy both, consider Amazon.com. The have a special where if you buy both you will save a handsome sum.

Great read for bass fishermen.......2005-09-08
This is a wonderful, detailed book that provides a good background on everything from the history of the sport, to the bass's habitat and behavior, to different fishing techniques. Reading it has helped me put more quality bass in the boat (to be released soon after, of course), but more importantly it has given me a new appreciation for the sport. I enjoy my time on the water that much more because I have a better understanding of my surroundings and the fish I'm chasing after.
I would suggest this book to any amateur bass fisherman who is addicted to the sport like I am. I also highly recommend sharing this with younger bass fisherman 13 and above. If they love to fish they'll eat this up. But be sure to read it first, you don't want them showing you up consistently on the water !
Just Buy This Book!.......2005-01-24
If you only want to read one book about Largemouth Bass fishing, this should be it. It is the most comprehensive of all the Largemouth Bass books that I've ever read and explains things in an easy straight-forward tone. If you ever wondered what an "oli" lake is or what a flatland impoundment looks like and how to fish them, this book is for you. In addition to the types of water that Largemouth Bass live in, the history, biology, seasonal periods and food sources are covered as well as how to fish specific structures such as boat docks, points, weeds etc. Some of the specific lure techniques are a bit dated and lacking but that doesn't detract from the overall value of the book. With that said though, I should add that if you just want a book that tells you how and when to fish a spinnerbait or a plug or a worm, this In-Fisherman bass strategy book is not for you. This book is meant to give you a broad base of knowledge about the bass and its biome and how an angler can exploit such to catch bass.
It's simple...........2001-06-29
If it says IN Fisherman on it, Buy it! They produce some of the best books and videos on freshwater fishing. Period! Full of current, scientific, and practical advice on the species you are after. If you don't learn from this book, then you probably helped write it.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent book.......2005-12-15
This is a great book on how to fish for largemouth. It covers everything, tackle, presentation, location, fish habits. It covers rivers, lakes, reservoirs, even farm ponds.
I was getting skunked one summer, and spent a couple of hours reading the chapter related to seasonal fishing patterns. Went out and hit the deep edge of the weedline, and there they were.
This is THE book I count on for fishing knowledge.

Customer Reviews:
Useful reference to prescription and OTC drugs.......2005-10-04
This is a useful and helpful reference to commonly used prescription and Over-The-Counter drugs. It is fairly compact, not too big or heavy. Print size is very readable and layout of the pages is good. It comes out every year with a new edition. Having up-to-date information is important.
The negatives are that it does not contain information on recommended dosages. Dosages for each person can vary due to weight or build or needs as deterimed by your doctor. But it is useful to know what the average dosage is for a medication. If your dosage is larger or smaller than average it would be something that might be discussed with your doctor. Medications are listed by generic name. A person needs to look up the brand name in the index to find the generic name.
This is a good guide and a useful addition to your home reference library. It is a little incomplete because of the absence of recommended dosages. But I like the inclusion of OTC medications.
Fairly useful and contains most commonly used drugs.......2005-06-16
It's a great reference for people that are on prescription drugs and need to obtain some background information about them. Also great for most people, because we all take over-the-counter drugs from time to time, mostly for cold, fever, allergies, and pain relieves. Personally I think the most useful sections in the book are the ones on possible adverse reactions and possible interactions with other substances(for example certain foods). Like one of the other reviewers said, this book lacks the recommended dosage. It tells you what form the drug should be taken, and in what interval, but doesn't tell you how many milligrams you need. I think I understand why they didn't include that specific info. A good doctor must be aware that everyone has different tolerance levels and sensitivity to various drugs and foods. Therefore, most normal dosage for average folks might be too much for some, and vice versa. This book is intended as a general information guide, not a replacement for going to the doctor or pharmacist. Overall, good price and nice to have around the house, unless you're Superman and can only get sick from Kryptonite, lol.
........2004-12-11
Great reference, but I wish prescription drugs were listed by their trade names.
You have to go to the index, look up a trade name, then cross reference with the generic name
on the a to z listing.
QUALITY AT THE RIGHT PRICE.......2002-08-07
The "Complete Guide to Prescription & Non-prescription Drugs" may not be a perfect drug guide, but considering its extensive coverage ... it is a clear winner. With information on more than 5,000 brand names and more than 700 generic names, it deserves a second look.
This book contains simplified pharmaceutical and pharmacological information that is designed for non-medics. It is quality at the right price! Be it weight by weight or volume by volume, this book is superior to "The American Pharmaceutical Association's Guide to Prescription Drugs". It's worth every dime you spend on it.
Informative but not key information concerning dosages........2001-11-28
This book does not include recommended dosage ranges for drugs. Thanks.
