Excellent Overview: Informative & Instructive.......2004-04-28
I bought this book for the discussion on current sports marketing applications and methods. After reading those parts first, I then became absorbed with the narration on the background of the sports business industry itself which goes back into the late 1800's.
The historical information is presented in stories and case studies of successes, failures, false starts and the big dreams of those who believed in sports as a profitable entertainment entity. The book closes by showing how companies, TV partners and customers all gravitate to sports in order to market products and services and uses more case studies to show how the whole enterprise works.
It is a great overview of both the supply and demand sides of sports: highly recommended for any sports fan and especially for those who work in sports, or for companies that sponsor sports programs.

This may be one of the most interesting and thought provocative looks at sports marketing to-date. The book investigates the merger that took place between marketing and sports, as well as when athletes started to be a driving force themselves and not just part of a team. It also looks at the financial 'boost' this gave to sports in general when marketing became a partner in the equation. 'Awesome' read if you are into the genre!

Great Reference for All.......2007-01-11
If you happen to be unfortunate enough to be using Goldstein's, Classical Mechanics, you will find that Kepler's Laws are not fully explored. I found the Moulton book to fill in alot of gaps. I do mean....alot of gaps! The book gives great detail into series expansions. Not only does it address the series, but it addresses the exact origin and derivation of the series expansions. The only thing it lacks is the recursion formula! Moulton treats all of the equations like this. He shows you complete derivations of everything. And, he is good in showing you applications of what you've learned.
In itself, the book is a textbook, but it serves as a great companion to any modern text. This book is actually quite old, so it gives you alot of insight into "antequated knowledge." You know, the "stuff" teachers already assume you know.
So, I recommend this book to anyone. It is very readable. It explains concepts in a very simplistic manner. Unlike modern books that give you point "A" and expect you to fill in all the gaps to point "Z," Moulton uses the "old style of teaching" where he takes you from point "A" to point "Z" to fully prepare you, and then, he slams you with the impossible problems at the end. But, you find the problems are not nearly as difficult due to his preparations.

Good historical background.......2007-01-02
This is an excellent textbook covering not only celestial mechanics, but a wide range of astrophysics topics. It was written in 1902 and updated in 1914. At that time nuclear processes were not known, and the composition of the sun was thought to be mainly iron. Given these limitations, however, the math is clear, the definitions are still used, and the historical background is interesting and informative. For a more up-to-date discussion of the subject, I recommend "Fundamentals of Astrodynamics", Bate, Mueller, White (1971), but get this one for the background.

There is a lot of information in this book. If you are looking for information on fly fishing in Idaho this is probably the most concise book to get. Information covers everything from the Henry's Fork to small lakes you would need to hike in to. There is probably more information in this book than you will ever need.
CONS: some of the info is old. I believe the last revision of this book was 2002 and even then some of the information was out of date. Just double check before you head out. There is a lot of urban fishing in Boise and I would have liked to see some more coverage regarding that. The book just skims over it. Its doesn't detract from the book in a major way but if you don't want to leave the city to fish its great stuff to know.
PROS: Lots to read. A great index to help you get right to the area you are looking for, hatch information, Detailed maps, Restaurant, fly shop, hotel, lodging, camping information. (although some of it is no longer correct) 450+ pages of content
If you are looking for an everything Idaho guide for fly fishing this is the one to get. The other Idaho guides like the Fly Fishing Idaho: A Quick, Clear Understanding of Where to Fly Fish in Idaho (No Nonsense Fly Fishing Guides) and Idaho Blue-Ribbon Fly Fishing Guide (Blue-Ribbon Fly Fishing Guides) don't cover nearly as much water as this does but they do seem to be a bit more detailed on the water they do cover.
A really helpful guide to fishing Idaho.......2001-07-26
This book is the best Idaho guide I have seen. It has clear directions (especially for people who are not familiar with Idaho), plenty of maps, and good complimentary information such as fly shops, motels, and restaurants. It is well written without being condescending, yet it is of just as much use to the experienced flyfisher as it is to the novice. I have not tried out all the streams and lakes listed (obviously), but Retallic and Barker's descriptions and evaluations match those of the fly shops on the internet as much as could reasonably be expected. If I could fault anything, it would be that the book is 5 years old and many things can change in that time. I would really like to see an update. Other than that, I would rate it 4 ½ to 5 stars.

Retallic and Barker know of what they speak. The writers live near, and fish, the water of which they write. It is refreshing to see a "hook and bullet" book that does not try to browbeat you with the authors casting expertise or remembrances of the West of long ago.
This is a very good, easy touse guide on idaho water. If you are going ther, buy it.

I am a wedding planner (eventsbykaren@hotmail.com) and if you aren't using a planner, you are nuts, and if you are and they haven't read this book, they are nuts! All people planning a wedding should read this book. Even if you don't read it and only use it as a reference then you still should buy this book. A wedding is a one shot deal and if you haven't planned one before, trust me, you have NO IDEA what it takes! There is a reason why planners make good money. This is one book that I recommened to all brides, mothers, fiances, and planners regardless of if you are using a coordinator or not.

This is by far the best wedding book available. The author is a mega wedding planner and you can tell why after reading the book. My fiance and I both read the book when we first got engaged and loved it! I am the groom and I learned a lot. I went from totally naive to getting a bunch of inside tips on getting the most bang for our buck. It made my involvement in the plans really enjoyable.
